From my research today, Tube amp and solid state amp are two different type of sound signature.
Are you using for portable usage?
-
Ibasso T4, nuforce mobile icon?
-
different type of sound produce. I had yet to tested a tube and amp arr, hopefully, my financial department will grant me the wish! But from what i heard, tube sound nice.

hey...
i just bought a grado sr125 and have a few questions about amps
1. are there diff types of amp like headphones do?
2. i have a budget of 50 dollars can i get an amp with adjustable bass and treble controls
3. i saw this guy with an amp connected dirrectly to the ipod usb jack. whats the diff??
4. possible to built a good amp with $50?
5. able to boost the bass on the grados?
sorry for all the questions
1. There are various type of amp in the market.
e.g Solid state amp, tube amp and DAC
2. 50 dollar is very hard to get an amp with such a function. Below 200 will do the damage!
3. That's call a line out. A line out work in this way that the audio signal did not go thru the internal mp3 player amp, but go to your portable amp volume.
For example, while listening from the line output of a Ipod connecting it to an amplifier, when you play back the recording, having only changed the amplifier volume, all the songs will be at the same loudness; you will not hear the volume increase where you turned up your favorite song via your ipod. In contrast, if you play by connecting to the headphone connector, the recording's volume would follow the volume knob's setting.
4. I cannot answer it, haven get a chance to build it yet!
5. Able to, if you get ibasso t4, with a bass boost option.
Is ok to ask those question as we are all learning too! Welcome to the game!
hope my reply helps!

try it briefly at SE, not that bad arr, very bassy

you are welcome to join us for this long way

Shure? Hmmm, maybe can consider the SE-210. Isolate quite well. Been using the SE 310 when I am on the train to work. The isolation do a pretty good job till cannot hear the engine, but rather soft on announcement.
But to me I think the 210 sound bland, that's why i go for the SE 310.

UE 3 studio and S jays are a few you can consider.

hmmm, you can pm mosterlim, he is the dealer for littledot amp also.

Not 3x the price, but there is another headphone shop at Funan that sold AKG K242HD and K701 for almost double the price of other stores. That was a few months ago, hopefully they have adjusted the price by now.
I have no experience buying stuff from Farle, but from the sticker prices that I see on the boxes, their prices don't seem to be inflated. Perhaps OP got screwed over by a new staff who doesn't know the prices?
do agree with kchew, did not have any experience buying things from there, but the price they quote on their sticker are very comparable with competitor lei, is it an misunderstanding? Maybe to prove TS you are right, why not post your purchase receipt and let us see? I am sure many of us, including me are interested to know what's happening.

stop

you mean the JBL showroom? That room might have some limitation due to the moving in and moving out of equipment. And the internal of the room need to do some major shifting before you guys can have the meet.
-
why not get a new one?
-
haha, just keep it or sell to your friend lor. haha, your um1 bought how long alr?
-
alamak!
-
well, they will be handy when time to come. When you send them for custom, as in reshelling, you will need a earphone to entertain you ma. haha
-
exam? student? haha, exam tmr, shlouldn't you be in your textbook mugging? haha, joking!
disadvantage? people want to share the earphone with you also cannot lor.
-
chill ok. haha, hmmm, getting a custom do have it advantage and disadvantage la. You will have better fitting and the sound sound much nicer.
-
hurting your ear when you still using foam? hmmmm, sound strange to me. If like that, i think you will not get use to custom ba, they are using acrylic. And you will feel the hurt as well lei.
-
hello, allow me to answer to your questions.
A um1 + um 56 will not not sound close to a full custom.
The um56 is only like making a custom "olives" that you had been using. And for a custom to work, the engineer will put in the driver of the earphone into your ear impression and then create the custom earphone.
mainly, it just give you a better fitting and better isolation IMO, with a good fitting, you will feel different, in term of the sound projection and etc.
I hope it helps [:

ESW9 are very nice phones, I like the sound and also the real leather pads but they are not circumaural, ie they rest on the ears and not around them. By all means try them out.
oops, i missed out on the circumamural. haha
-
i would suggest you to go to Stereo and try it out yourself, they are both of different sound characterist thus, it would sound really different for the genre of music you listening to.
-
hello! welcome to this forum!
for closed headphone and is ATH one, why not consider the ESW 9, good for close and give a very warm sounding. The best thing is to auditon it yourself at the two shop mention above

wow, been a long time since this thread come alive.
Let me do some update then. Recently bought the shure E2 flange to pair up with astello. Isolation did improve as it seal well and the outside noise seem to be lower. Sound wise, the bass improve, and been more punchy and neater.
Which is more exciting, Sony MDR-NC500D or PFR-V1?
