After an unsuccessful attempts two nights ago, using the MintLP protractor (hard time getting use to looking through the Peak Lupe), tried again today and found my cartridge alignment to be <1mm off. Adjusted it...and wow...what a difference!! The dynamic range seemed tojust opened up!! The bass is...wow...and this is just with an very low end AT cartridge.

Wow...this album is really good...the original stereo mix which was never released on CD due to the deterioration of the master tapes... A bit of interesting history of this album...from wikipedia... Days of Future Passed, The Moody Blues' second official album (released in 1967), was their first of what would be a succession of concept albums. It was also the first to feature Justin Hayward and John Lodge, who would play a very strong role in directing the band's sound in the decades to come. Utilising the London Festival Orchestra primarily for epic instrumental interludes between songs, Days of Future Passed moved the Birmingham band away from its early R&B roots (as displayed on its debut album with soon-departed future Wings member Denny Laine) into uncharted rock territory, making them the early pioneers of both classical and progressive rock. In 1978 the album was remixed because of deterioration of the master tapes. The original 1967 stereo mix, which is generally considered superior by fans, has never seen a CD release. All CD versions, even remasters, use the later mix. However, the 1990 greatest hits package "The Story Of The Moody Blues/Legend Of A Band" CD compilation, seems to contain the original mix of "Nights In White Satin".

Hmmm, this budget cart, the AT-95E, sounds surprisingly good for its price...
-
errr...that small thingy cost more than my whole rig.... The wooden box, maybe I can afford... Can only afford this cart now...cost me 2,800 cents:

My fault for not paying attention when dusting the mat with a cloth...tail-end of the cloth got caught on the stylus when I was lifting the cloth and the arm went bouncing a couple of times... Anyway...as iCal stated...time for upgrade?

Ahhh...I am not good at describing sound using audiophile terms...all I can say is, first impression, everything sounds better than the old phono, and this is just out of the box...I understand now why one reviewer described this phono stage as "Era Gold V on Steroid"!

This is really good...a must for all 70's rock fans. This MFSL pressed LP is around 38 years old, yet still sounding great, very clean and no clicks and pops at all...

The Wintersong sounds more intimate and creamier on the electrostat...but I like Nevermind on RS1i...did not bring along my HD800 to try.

Jig was just joshing-lah...the angle of of the stylus looks ok to me...
