  1. thanks for the inputs guys. plenty of food for thought for me.
  2. yes i prefer japanese singers. love their music. no i have no clue what the lyrics mean, but i love listening to the mood/emotions/feeling/energy/melody. i interpret the song based on all that. back on topic, listening to Jenifer Hudson again. lol
  3. Noriyuki Makihara - Such A Lovely Place my leap of faith album, still undecided on how much i like it.
  4. I had a very good discussion with uberburger101 on new vs old cdp and was hoping to hear more opinions on this issue. My concerns for old cdp. -cd lens will either be nearing the end of lifespan or is unreliable -unable to get parts for repairs/replacement if anything spoil -might be unable to read some type of cds Pros of old cdp - more musical sounding/natural (based on what i read about marantz cd63/67) -very cheap if bought second hand (the price performance ratio is bigger) New cdp -under warranty -cd lens sure no prob -sure can play all the cd in the market -might be artificial sounding? (not sure about this) -much more expensive than second hand old cdp. Just a side note, I called up Alpha Audio and ask them about Marantz 6002 vs NAD C515BEE since they are almost similar in price and i was recommended to get NAD. He told me marantz bright/harsh whereas NAD warmer. He also told me that lens can last about 2yrs plus. Replacement of lens might cost about $200. I was also wondering that the TS Lim modded CD63/67 has been around for at least 10yrs, surely there is a cdp in that price range(price of cdp+price of mod) that could beat it given current improvement in technology? Would it be better to go for a old cdp or a second hand new cdp given my low budget of say $300? Any comments/advice/opinions/suggestions is very much appreciated. Thanks!
  5. got this from yesasia when it was first release sometime back and it was my first time hearing this cd through a cdp. love Younha!
  6. my cdp seems to be in a good mood today and will play my second cd for the night. if mary j blige is queen of R&B, then Jennifer Hudson is the new princess. $13.95 from HMV. Worth every single penny!
  7. picked this up at gramophone last week. worth the money. =D
  8. Hi Kon, I believe you have not answered my question of the shipping costs. It would greatly affect my decision on this MO if I feel that the shipping costs are not split fairly. Thanks. Regards.
  9. Appreciation for My Dad I would like to take the opportunity to show my appreciation to my Dad for his support in my Audio Journey. Although I didnt get any financial support from him in playing audio, the moral support was immense. Like how he help me made the KSC-1000, we went to source for the headband together, he helped me fixed it on and made it complete. Another time when I realised that one of the resistor of the millet got burned and I decided it was too troublesome to send back to Ken(wkwlb) to fix it. My Dad told me he could help me fix. So all I need to do was to go down to KOBA to get a replacement resistor and my dad did the soldering. Along the way, the fuse was found to be broken and the ground power wire broke off from the solder. My Dad went to get the fuse for me and resolder back the ground power wire(took quite a few tries as the connecting pin was broke off already). Lastly, when i finally decided to move to a CDP for my home rig, I suddenly remembered my dad have a CDP which was in our old house when I was still somewhere in primary school. I did a search and found it to be hidden in the cupboard under my TV and it wasnt hooked up to anything as the new DVD player has taken over it role. I took over the ownership of the CDP and to my surprise it still works! However as with age, it came with several irritating problems(after consulting Aron, most likely is the lens at fault). So after telling my dad, he opened up the CDP, cleaned the lens, grease the cd tray and the disc spinning gear. Today is the second day of rebirth of my old cdp and things looks promising. Good to go once again! Lastly, after consulting my dad on the vampire cable mo, he told me that it would not be a problem helping me to solder a RCA to RCA interconnect. Awesome!
  10. YOU HAVE THIS ALBUM? quite a secret JS fan myself, but i dun have any of their albums yet. This album is one of those which you must listen from track 1 to last track. The storyline is very very nice.
  11. for those who are wondering what goes inside a cdp from the 1990s basically nothing much!
  12. Hi, I am interested but some questions, how will shipping costs be counted for each buyer? total shipping divided by the number of buyers? or is tied to the orders price? mode of payment? full payment before ordering or payment on collection? or deposit? i am interested to get VAMPIRE Cast Copper Interconnect: CCC-II with twin 18ga polyethylene insulated conductors, copper braid shield and 7mm black PVC jacket @$3.50 per mono foot 4 feet. thanks
  13. thanks guys for the advice. looks like not tough. thinking of joining the mass order for the vampire cable and make a simple one for my cdp to my millet. @jacj6049 thanks for the offer bro. gotta get my rca plugs and cables first. =D

  15. Anybody knows where i can get lubricant for plastic? not those oil type one. it's for my old cdp cd tray gears. thanks.
  16. today it is this cd stuck in my cdp. cd tray problem still not solved.
  17. indeed, if my memory serves me right, this cdp was already in my home when i was in pri sch. at least 10yrs of history! it does like to throw temper from time to time thou(totally refusing to read any of my cds late last night and keep rejecting them. lol) my powercord is hardwired to the cdp. what i like about the cdp is it is very simple at the back. the powerchord is hardwired, there is a 110v/220v switch, and just a pair of RCA outputs which writes "Line Out" Simplicity for the win. I do need to find some stands to elevate my millet from my cdp thou.
