Hmm. The DAC section is supposed to be the same IIRC. Only some funky new functions and an improved amp section for the DA11. Then again, I could be wrong.

Yes. Like ical mentioned, I sold off the one without pink drivers (RS-1 classic). Definitely will. At least with this pair I don't have to worry about the value dropping. Even though it's nearly four times the age of the pair I sold.

Now I just need to start saving for a better source.

Now I know what my next upgrade is going to be. The amp is indeed as good as the source feeding it, my RS-1 opened up and was singing with the ASTINtrew CDP connected to my rig. Crisp, musical and just neutral enough to balance the warmth of my tube amp.
