  9. One note about the portapros, careful for their band =/ When i tried it, my hair usually got caught in the band while adjusting and its hell pain =/ especially so for ladies with "more" hair. so yeah, beware. if you don't mind 2nd hand good, 2nd hand es7 price is quite affordable
  10. Tried and I don't think the igrado can isolate well..
  11. I suggest you using the $$ to go and upgrade your pl30. The difference in improvement would be greater
  12. No need to patronise so many shops.. Jaben, Stereo electronics.. choose one and just get the headphone you want.. After entering the audio world.. I do not go to other places like challenger.. sls.. et cetera places to get my audio stuff =,=
  13. Its usually very long and uncomfortable to be use in portable. The materials of the internal wires should be the same.
  14. Since it was design to use in loud environment like pubs, I believe it should be able to provide you with the isolation level that you are satisfied with, as concurred by your impression few posts ago when you tried them at sls. Isolation- ok. Then again, I believe the cables would be a big hassle if you intend to use it on the go. Coil cables are very irritating, unless you intend to buy and recable them or something along those lines of replacing them. And there is nothing wrong in liking a monitoring headphone. The akg k702 that I personally own was marketed as a monitoring headphone, but I don't use it for that purpose. As long as you like the sound, and you can use it for long period with it being comfortable, then it should be okay as long as you like it. Though its kinda weird recommending none-main stream headphones.. what matters most is that you like it.
  15. Here is my knowledge about DJ headphones They tend to have a very flat(note: do not mix up with balance) frequency response. They usually are closed back to have the maximum isolation. Usually uses coiled cables, so that they can move about with more slacks at the cable. They are similar to a certain extent with monitoring headphone, just that monitoring headphones can be opened and uses standard straight cables. The colours of the frame and the cups are usually quite flashy, I may be generalizing, but thats usually the case.
  16. The UE SF3 initial msrp was $159, not sure if there was any changes after logitech took over. Westone um1 is $145ish. Westone 1 is slightly more expensive.
  17. Agreed.. iems for portable, headphone or speakers for desktop. You were initially using the bose in ear phones right ? And you are judging, making impressions based off it right ? If so, I must really recommend that you use any of the iems recommended above with foam tips. Only a few iems(like sa6, etymotics), whilst using silicon tips provide up to -26dB.. the rest's isolation are really low with silicon tips(IMO). Don't let Bose's earphone spoil your chance of enjoying portable audio bliss
  18. You mean the Denon D1001 ? Do note about the headband's pressure though. When I had mine, I had to stretch them using 2~3 books daily in order for them to reduce their pressure they are applying on my head. But many say that the D1k doesn't have the denon sound signature, which I agree to a certain extent. But you are aimming for the headphone, and not the brand anyway, so just choose it if you like it.
  19. The HD555 is kinda under mid size to full size can, not portable at all imo. And its going to be heavy and hot using that, not to mention it is an open can with super low isolation. I'm not sure about the price, but do look into sennheiser HD 218, 228 and 238, I believe its around your price range IIRC. So.. do go and try the few recommendations that I posted first, they are the few that are really recommended at that price range.
  20. Woah.. Headphone that is.. -portable(light weight, foldable) -high isolation -works well with rock music as well as a little bit of pop and hip-hop. And for headphones, the level of isolation it provide is really really inferior compared to iems.. Got some recommendations from me.. but it doesn't fit all 3 requirement. -Alessandro MS1i << but its a semi open can, and not "exactly" foldable, can only twist the cup side ways. -Denon D1001 << stretch your budget abit, close cans, but is foldable at all. -Koss Portapro << isolation low. I think the best is for you to head down to either Jaben or Stereo and ask for recommendations and try them.
