The E12 is an amazing amp - it really brings out the bass in a good way, because of the power reserve it has and how that makes the bass solid and undistorted. E12 is also great for treble because it doen't make the highs so sharp or strident - it's a sound that's effortless, almost like live music. I know that sounds exaggerated, but if you have a good source, like one with a true Line Out (not just a headphone jack), the improvement you get is really worth the price.

The Momentum treble is uneven - strong in low treble and weak in upper treble. The M100 is perfect in treble, but too strong in the bass. Unfortunately there is no simple EQ to fix the Momentum, but simple bass EQ does fix the M100.

Here is a very cool headphone, my favorite stealth color (matte black), small but mighty good. http://www.hifiheadphones.co.uk/forum/headphone-reviews/3631-marshall-monitor-stereo-headphone-review.html

If the price had not scared you away and you bought it, you might have gotten a really big shock with the sound. -

v-moda vamp verza DAC and headphone amp review
dalethorn replied to dalethorn's topic in FAQs, Articles, Reviews, etc
I have a small (13.5 x 8 cm) leather case that fits the verza, small enough for a shirt pocket, so I can carry it that way if I need to. But users who want true portability can buy the Metallo case from v-moda and put their phone into that, then clamp the Metallo case to the verza and now everything is just one unit. -

About the same as an iPhone5, except thicker. I don't use it outdoors, because it wouldn't make any difference. Can't hear really fine details with outdoor noise. -
Bose AE2i Stereo Headphone review
dalethorn replied to dalethorn's topic in FAQs, Articles, Reviews, etc
I just hope, after sticking my neck out with this one, that Bose maintains the same sound for this AE2 series for at least a couple of years. -
Here is a recent purchase - Bose AE2i - first headphone I've bought that does not require EQ: http://www.hifiheadphones.co.uk/forum/headphone-reviews/3501-bose-ae2i-stereo-headphone-review.html

Need a small portable very high fidelity headphone
dalethorn replied to dalethorn's topic in Portable Audio
Wife still uses ATH ESW9a - very satisfied with that. I have been using mostly the ESW11, because somehow the sound is really satisfying in long-term listening. It may be the wood cups makes the difference? I just got a Bose AE2i last week, and am really surprised. It has such good balance I don't need any EQ with it. Also excellent soundstage. I think the older AE2 might have had some problems. -
Need a small portable very high fidelity headphone

She will have to live with her $200 AT. No way would I ever spend $700 more on another one. I'm already down to 110 pounds from skipping meals. -

She uses the ESW9a, and she is very happy with it. I will not give up my ESW11, which I have become very attached to. -
I bought the ESW11-Ltd a month ago, and it is my favorite in spite of very recessed treble. But the price is way too high, especially for such low fidelity. I'm very surprised that such a sound as this could be made in Japan, especially when the $200 USD ESW9a sounds so much better.

If you don't mind paying for the Momentum, it's much more compact, more comfortable, and sounds better than the M50. The black version is available now. There is a new Soundmagic HP200 you might consider also.
