  1. Here's a headphone I've been following, but turned out to be a disappointment. http://www.hifiheadphones.co.uk/forum/head...one-review.html
  2. And here's an extended video review comparing other premium headphones plus a discussion of portability -vs- transportability. http://youtu.be/bdg_l6L9D5k
  3. This should fill in a few blanks - my new headphone... http://www.hifiheadphones.co.uk/forum/head...eview-dale.html
  4. It flexes very wide and I don't see or hear any creaking like the band is going to stress out and start to crack. I suppose if anyone is worried about it they should find out exactly what material it is and then apply some stuff to keep it flexible.
  5. This headphone looks very hand-made, but the sound is like something you measured and spec'd yourself. http://www.hifiheadphones.co.uk/forum/head...eview-dale.html
  6. And here is the video review for the t-Jays Four plus Dirac DSP: http://youtu.be/sTmWZmVAjGs
  7. Here's my review of the first (to my knowledge) 'real' headphone/IEM to use a Dirac DSP for both frequency response and impulse response correction. The Apple Earpods and earbuds were first, hence my use of 'real' above. http://www.hifiheadphones.co.uk/forum/head...app-review.html
  8. Denon 7000 is not small, and IEM's are not applicable obviously. The best sound we have found is the Earpods (purchase version only) with Dirac player, but she wants a headphone similar to P5.
  9. Full text and video review of the Phiaton MS-400, with some interesting differences from last year's MS-400. http://www.hifiheadphones.co.uk/forum/head...one-review.html
  10. Funny thing for me is, the whole world changed since last week. Dirac introduced the new DSP player for Apple Earpods and earbuds, and the sound quality with those corrections with both Earpods and earbuds (the ones with the Apple controls) is above the Momentum, maybe above the ESW9a (not sure yet), and well above the P5. But as silly as it sounds, I'm using the Earpods and earbuds around the house, and the Momentum for portable use.
  11. Youtube video review: http://youtu.be/qwJ12AHShGE Here's the full story - there's a summary at the beginning of the review. http://www.hifiheadphones.co.uk/forum/head...ull-review.html Edit: The correction with the earbuds (not the Earpods) may be a lot better than what I originally thought. Although the earbuds' fit may never be satisfactory for me due to the following, it does make this much more interesting. Wearing the earbuds normally, with the wires going to each bud at the bottom of my ears, the sound is somewhat thin. Rotating each earbud so the wires are pointing forward, 90 degrees from the "normal" position, the sound becomes much more like the Earpods, i.e. spectacular. This might not seem terribly important, but it does provide more clues about the ultimate capabilities of the Dirac DSP.
  12. I was skeptical, tried the free player, immediately got the $3 USD app. Amazing is the only word! http://kenrockwell.com/audio/dirac/hd-player.htm
  13. I wasn't doing video reviews when this came out, so several people asked for a feature review and comparison to the Sennheiser Momentum. My conclusion: ATH ESW9a wins easily. http://youtu.be/uIhBhtlstFM
  14. I really want a ESW11, but so far the special edition is approximately $800 USD. So if anyone knows how I can get a genuine ESW11 for less than $500 USD I want it now. 53 mm drivers, it will be amazing, I'm sure.
  15. Video and text review of the Phiaton MS-300, the smaller on-ear headphone by Phiaton. I found the MS-400 fairly bassy, yet the MS-300 is somewhat light in the bass. http://www.hifiheadphones.co.uk/forum/head...one-review.html
  16. I gave my 650 away, but will keep Momentum. Much nicer.
  17. Here's a 13-headphone look at the Sennheiser Amperior, Momentum, HD280 Pro, PX200II, Shure 1840, ATH ESW9A, v-moda M80, Logitech UE6000 and UE4000, B&W P3 and P5, Apple Earpods, and Frends Taylor. http://youtu.be/or_5_dNPzsA
  18. I got the larger one ('Taylor') from the Apple store, and while it's advertised as a fashionable headphone for women (for Holiday gift giving no doubt), I would not give such an ugly-sounding device to anyone. There are several headphones at the Apple store I don't like because they are so far off of the high fidelity curve that they're not fixable with i-device EQ (headphones made for iPods and iPhones), yet the Taylor is in a class by itself, having such an irregular midrange that the distortions seem to move around with different music tracks. As fashion, the Taylor is very low-cost jewelry, having a minimal build and very scratchable outer earcups. Not recommended for that either. http://www.wearefrends.com/women/collection/
  19. Yes, I think the UE4000 may be the best bargain I have got so far.
  20. I see the ESW11 labels are "L" and "R", while the ESW9A are "Left" and "Right".
  21. Text and video review of the ATH-ESW9A headphone. Conclusion: Outstanding sound quality, better than the new Sennheiser Momentum. http://www.hifiheadphones.co.uk/forum/head...one-review.html
  22. The video link and full text is here. Conclusion: Excellent sound quality and fits a very wide range of genres. http://www.hifiheadphones.co.uk/forum/head...ull-review.html
  23. The 650 I had in 1999 or so, the first edition, sounded very similar to the 600. It had a full treble, and the Momentum does not. The 650 also did not have much upper bass emphasis, and the Momentum does. So if a treble boost is applied the Momentum has a richer sound overall, but without the boost it's just another headphone I think.
  24. With the Sennheiser Momentum, there's good news, good news, and bad news. The bad news is for people who would not like the rolled off treble (somewhat recessed compared to Amperior and my other hi-fi 'phones) and who also will not try a treble boost for whatever reason. I doubt that many people will fit both of those, so maybe no bad news after all. The first good news is it has the detail and warmth of the Amperior, but without the excess emphasis and boominess in the upper bass the Amperior has. The lower bass is rolled off some, down perhaps 3 db at 50 hz and 6 db at 30 hz. The Amperior I would rate as marginal for bass-heads, but I don't think the Momentum would be interesting to bass-heads at all. I like the Momentum. The look in brown leather etc. is nice, like a deluxe wallet or briefcase. It's incredibly light for its size, and I have some lightweight headphones. Count me amazed. It does not completely surround the ears (my average or better size ears), that is to say it's circumaural, but it touches the outermost part of the ears, yet it's soft and comfy. I'm also wearing glasses and no issue there. Most important, I'm playing a bunch of tunes now, not for testing but for pure enjoyment. It sounds fairly spacious for a closed headphone - excellent! I can't imagine who this Momentum is aimed at. The recessed treble says younger, but the near-neutral bass and un-fashion look doesn't seem to fit that, especially at $350 USD.
