Hi .. I'm a super newbie at this audio stuff., I just own a grado sr-80 for use on my computer don't even know what exactly amps are for... amplifying ? haha sometimes when watching DVDs on my computer, I find the sound to be too soft even when i turned all the volume up to max.. So an amp will help me with this right ? also will songs sound better with an amp ? which amps should i look at ? and where in sg to look for amps ? advice would be greatly appreciated

hey guys i'm should be getting a new rig and maybe a audigy2 zs or a m-audio revolution if i need one i'm quite a hardcore gamer so i'm looking for 5.1 headphones ? or headphones that can give a surround effect in games.. i remember seeing a review of 5.1 headphones online before.. anyidea where i can get such headphones locally ? good ones preferably.. and how are such headphones with dvds ? and music(mainly mp3s) i have no space for speakers and blasting gunfire on speakers in the middle of the night doesn't go down too well with my parents. i'm not that much of an audiophile but i do own a pair of hd497s for listening to mp3s.. it has served me well so i may use this for music on my rig .

thanks for the input.. i'm just a student and not much of an audiophile so the mx500 is good enough for me now other than the fact that the bus engine noise will interrupt my music dont have any money for those >100 ones .. maybe i'll check out the px200 was in a rush coz planning to buy today.. coz i'm not free tomorrow.. sorry i didnt search much.. thanks

err i'm using mx500 with my portable player now but the thing is the bus engine noise always drowns out my music so looking for err those street style of headphones which i can listen to my music on buses and mrt ? .. those closed ones issit ? looking for reccomendations budget is less than 80 ? thanks edit : sorry if theres been many topics about this before, planning to buy later hopefully

hehe i am a hardcore gamer, just haven't really cared much about the sound budget .. about less than $80 .. but not alot to spare i'm checking out the koss k55 and it looks good, i'll go see the shure and decide.. thanks

hmm i havent seen alot of foldable headphones.. so unsure about size but should be either that or streetstyle about gaming i face space constraints and dunno how to place the speakers, otherwise i would have used it for gaming already earphones would be ok if they can block out sound and are comfy..

hmm i have the mx500 but i don't really like earphones.. was thinking more along the lines of sony's streetstyle headphones but not sure about the quality.. also thought of the sony ex70 but scared the bass too much LOL

Hello, a complete n00b here anyway i'm new to the headphones area.. so pls guide me anyway.. i know close to nothing bout headphones and i just put them over my ears to listen... not much of an audiophile.. so yea.. right now just use for gaming and for music, mostly mp3s and some movies without those fancy sound effects I currently own a sennheiser hd497, and hope to continue using headphones, which is why i'm here! I wonder if there's any complete newbie guide on headphones coz i really have no idea what you guys are talking about hehehe.. wandered around abit Anyway i currently am looking for headphones/earphones to wear while i'm out that are good, coz i'm scared alot of the headphones i see are huge and quite hard to wear/carry around, maybe even obiang main use should be for rock/metal/punk... yea so any suggestions ? TIA
