  1. i hav tried at lower ISO, but the shutter speed was too low for hand-held shot, they came out blur, the kit lens is not bright enough for indoor shots without flash so i had to crank up the ISO, i think the F-stop on the kit lens was f3.6 at the widest zoom & f5.6 at max zoom

  2. more pictures of people eating tongue.gif

the guy on the right is the boss of the camera shop who lends me the E300 to test out, the one on the left is a friend smile.gif both of them also look like bookies lol.gif

both shots taken at iso 800 with NR on, no flash, noise level is acceptable

  3. i think manfrotto has monopods that are better quality then the one i bought, i paid $50+ for my & its made in Italy, there's a few thats bigger i think i bought the smallest one.

picture of the new E300 for everyone smile.gif shot here with the C770 to see the size difference

do u mean my photo? happy.gif

most of camera shop people in SLS look like bookies laugh.gif

a word of caution on mono pod, my Manfrotto mono-pod broke after about 2 months, one of the locking catch which is made of plastic broke in 2 when i tried to lock it blink.gif

i would go for a Slik mono pod next, the one with a twisting lock, my Slik tripod seems to be better made then the Manfrotto ones of the same price range

  5. 'closing shop' lolx.. laugh.gif

NR - noise reduction? how does it work? is it like reducing the noise when u push up the ISo to >1000 .. sorry newbie here blush.gif .. pretty kewl!

    yes NR = noise reduction

u can use it when pushing up the ISO or for long exposure night shots, on Olympus cameras i think they do a kind of layering onto the picture to reduce the noise in the shots

the draw back is that it takes longer for the camera to write to the card with NR on, the file size also almost doubles

  6. went to a frens shop in SLS to try out the Olympus E300 just now smile.gif

first impression...its a small camera for a DSLR, i had try a few times to see where to place my left hand, the grip although comfy, also feels small when compared to D70 or E1

the lack of a second LCD display and dial makes the menu a little confusing, all the buttons are also shortcuts to camera settings.

    things i like on the E300 smile.gif :

    not as heavy as E1

fast AF (even in low light)

    nice shutter feel

    fast write speed to CF

i took a few shots with my own CF card, the camera write speed was faster then my C8080, even with the noise reduction on

noise level was not as high as i thought, even with ISO set to 400 & 800

below is one of the better shot taken after work in SLS, no flash, manual mode ISO 400(i think) NR on, kit lens

i think the picture was ok considering this was the first time i'm using the E300

  7. The supplied earphone is average quality, weak bass, a bit dull treble, with a bit dominant midrange. But quite listenable and neutral. Anyway, I never use the supplied earphone anyway. I use this N200 with ATH-EW9.

the ATH-EW9 cost more then the Muvo rite Bram tongue.gif

    nice review thumbup1.gif

  8. digi01 said best opamp doesn't neccesarily have to sound good, it's synergy that matter. He said op275 (i believe it's from AD) is better it that lc-king circuit.

yes.gif i hav gav-up my opa627 for the cheaper AD797, i find the 627 "too detailed" it seems that all i'm doing is listening to the faults in the music with this chip, this may be good if you are mixing or mastering your own music, but for enjoying the music itself, i find the 797 more pleasing to the ears, it may be more colored then 627 but its a good coloring smile.gif more musical all round and less "studio" like

  9. the moustached guy is Richard, i think he's the uncle of the Hung bros

the Hung sisters also quite friendly naughty.gif just remember their father is the boss of the shop on the ground floor outside SLS, which also sells a lot of Koss headphones, which used to be beside Hung Bros...they are also relatives of my Boss tongue.gif very complex network in SLS lol.gif there's another Boss of a big shop in SLS who's a very close relative of my Boss, but i will not say who that is sleep.gif

as u can see, lots of relations here mellow.gif

  10. these arrived today on my bd smile.gif "gifts" from AD tongue.gif

    AD797 single channel op-amps

not sure if anyone else tried them before, AD says these are good for pre-amps, with very low noise

i hav them mount on DIY adpators and driving in my desktop amp.

the 797 sounds good, very warm like opa2132 but more detailed, i find it to be a good match for my HD595 better midrange then 2132 and not as analytical as the 8610, adds very nice body to the music
