so, where did you repair your x-can v3 in the end & how was it?
-
pretty as a peach. shall we bling on this? very tempted.
apparently on head-fi talk abt the limited edition with velor pad "sounds like crap"......?!
how come the same can have such differing views?
-
Quite a lot of choices for entry level CDPs. I ended up using Marantz CD7300 (superceded already). But at the time, I also considered Cambridge Audio, NAD, Rotel.

I sent stuff to a repair shop in Clementi before. So far so good. PM me for details. Or can search the forum for past data. Am sure everyone has their own recommendations. Just sharing my experience with AA only.

They can. But good practice to ask them to quote you the estimated costs before you get them to proceed to repair it. However, pls note that they will levy a minimum charge regardless of whether you wish to proceed or not. Just get all these settled upfront first.

I wouldn't advise on using AA for repairs. Personal experience. Workmanship is questionable. Attitude even worse.

Hey, K530 has a black limited edition ?! Looks good too.
More suited towhich genres?

I have a Porta Corda mki (1st generation). Using 9V battery.
I know the mkii can be modified to fit in an external PSU.
Can mki be similarly done? If so, who can do it?
Thinking of using it as a desktop amp instead.
Thks.

Congrats on the new purchase and a great collection of cans!
I only have DT880/03 to cater to my wide listening genres.
But in my view it does have enough bass slam for classical music & its more balanced sounding than HD600.

Noticed you have 2 Marantz CDPs (SA11S1 and xx?) and the CA840C.
Would like to hear your comments on the 2 brands?
I am using CD7300 and I had the 640C before.

Apparently its GBP100 more than the previous V3. Thats saying alot!
Pics are out on MF's website.

Does the lamb skin pads feel warm after extended listening as its leather?

For standalone DAB players (with in-built antenna) for bedside listening there are Tivoli, Pure, Sangean (they can also be connected to your system anyway). They are not exactly cheap though - can even get a mini-compo with the budget!
To integrate into your system, there are FM-cum-DAB tuners such as Denon 1500, Marantz 7001 which are excellent starters.
Some DAB channels are not available on FM unless you dig them (e.g. CRUISE/EVERGREEN). For those dual channels, IMO, they sound different on FM & on DAB.
What do you have in mind? If you want to use it for headphones, your reception must be pretty good (i.e. invest in a good antenna for the tuner) or else you'll hear alot of noise through your headamp.

Anyone tried this? I heard Gigaworks T20 before. Is T40 much better?
Help in getting full-sized headphone for music listening.
