finally found time to go down to the fallfactor store, no stock of chrome metropolis [L size] or kremlin [XL size], just citizen [M size] & mini-metropolis [s size]
citizen was selling @ S$160, pretty ok as compared to online prices, but me still a bit hesitant on ploughing down $160 on a bag...
anyone know of messenger bags with a cheaper budget?
seen some at Bugis Village, but not sure that's a right place to buy stuff, seems more suited for tourists...

as above
wish to buy a battery to increase the battery life
NJB3 comes with 2 battery slots
-
DT 231 @ S$89, hung bros at sim lim square, 3rd storey
closed headphone
most good earphones or clip-ons are semi-open or open
Sennheiser mx500 [about $30 plus]
Koss ksc50 or 55 [about $50 plus]
OT: maybe u can post a short review of your mp3 player?

2. can we change the original cable since its too thick and im using it for portables. its tad long as well (2m). im using cable tie now to roll it in to a coil and put it in my pocket.it believe its possible but is it worth the hassle? voiding warranty, risky?
i'm interested in the cable change too, since i already have 1 intermittent right channel [most likely a bad connection at the 1-to-2 cable split part of the cable]

dude...that was my fren and me....that thought did cross my mind, singapore quite small isn't it?
WHere in singapore to find Chrome bags?pls read the whole thread...

is tubist asking about portable headphones?
seems like he is talking about headphones for use at home
-
just saw 2 people carrying messenger bags [1 chrome and 1 timbuk2] at tiong bahru mrt today
quite a coincidence, as i've just found out that chrome was available in singapore
-
thanx for the info
will check out the fallfactor store

i tot u felt v6 is a bit too big?
anyway, best thing is to try it yourself
since u are using it for portable use, you just need to bring your PCDP and your fav CD to test

hi people
any recommendations for a messenger bag?
preferably not a Crumpler bag [too many people carrrying them around sg]
saw this online, looks quite nice, but dont think its available in sg, has a car-seatbelt style buckle, so you need not loop a heavy load over your head
http://www.chromebags.com/kremlin.php
thnking of using it for work [i.e. with workwear], as i feel my slingbag can't carry much, and a backpack looks weird with workwear [no offense to those who do this]
a messenger bag [with a sling that goes across the body] may not work that well aesthetically with workwear too...

look quite big is thinkong more of a earphonethen your choice is limited to e2 for your budget [actually exceeds your budget: costs about S$170]
provides good isolation, pity about the carrying case, which is poorly designed and is too small for the in-ear phones
noise from the cable rubbing against your clothes and your breathing is pleasantly absent
-
i would recommend sony's mdr-v6 a.k.a mdr-7506 for portable dance headphones, even though i have both SR60 & E2
good bassy sound for house or in your case [i guess from your nick], trance
only problem is that they seem to be out of production
a second hand pair perhaps? they were in the S$150-200 range when new
-
congrats on getting the SR60
its still my fav phone, the amount of details is amazing, it great for ROCK
do take good care of the cable interface [the part where 2 wire goes into 1], my SR60 are now having intermittent loss of sound for 1 channel

Q: Is it really that bad for outdoor listening?
A: yes
1. open phones let in outside noise, u will be turning up the volume till it harms your ears
2. the cord is really thick, and its too long for portable use, unless u stuff it into a bag
Q: When compared to earbuds, does cans offer better sound isolation (in general)?
A: it depends. closed headphones will provide more isolation, open headphones do worse then earbuds, in-ear headphones [e.g. shure or etymotic] offer the best isolation
Q: Was wondering if someone who has used the both give some comments/advice.
A: first of all, portable listening is a compromise, have listened to px200 for a short while during one of the sgheadphone meets, sonically not as good as SR60, plus it doesn't cover the ear totally
u may want to consider other popular portable phones, like
Sharp HP-MD33
Panasonic RP-HJE50
Sony MDR-EX71
Beyerdynamic DT 231
Shure E2C
Etymotic ER6
Sennheiser HD280
in-ear phones, to me, suit portable use the best [no headphone-band hair too]
u did say u can't use canal earbuds, but u may want to try the different sizes available [perhaps during the meets] to see if they fit your ears

http://us.creative.com/local/1/promo/CES_L...thurs/gb012.jpg
new wireless headphones that use magnetic induction instead of the usual RF or bluetooth
don't think sound quality would be that good, but interesting technology nevertheless
also, new zen micro photo coming out, plus 1 GB, 4GB, and 6GB capacities
bet some of the recent zen micro buyers would be pinching themselves
so many new mp3 players, but no NJB4,....
-
Try the Sennheiser HD-200 for that price.or
1. sennheiser hd212pro
2. beyerdynamic dt231
...that's about it for closed headphones around $120

rock music is made for gardo
i like sr60 more due to its more comfy earpads, don't use a amp myself, so not likely to hear the difference between sr60 & sr80
do bring down your discman to demo with the headphones at musicbydesign
http://www.musicbydesign.com.sg/
u said that u would be using it mostly at home, but do note that you won't be able to use the sr60 outdoors [this is the portable forum right?], because of its open design [external noise will make you turn up the volume, which will damage your ears, plus u'll be "spreading the music" to others around u], and the thick headphone cord [its too long for portable use, and too inflexible]
here's a music programme recommendation rock music lovers
rock ria rock, ria89.7, sundays 9pm, lots of classic rock/metal, doesn't matter if u don't understand malay [i'm chinese, and i enjoy it]

yeh, i've just gotten the invites to give away too
looks like there's quite a few invites available here in sgheadphones...

anyone knows where in sg i can still find NJB3 batteries?
emailed creative tech support, think they are out of stock
arrived too late to get the S$129 NJB3 [the player] durinf the most recent warehouse sale....
the battery cost around S$80, so S$129 would have been a steal
i don't have credit card, so buying online is out
-
i missed out on the NJB3 at $129 [sold out when i went]
since they don't sell the batteries anymore, that's the only way of getting them
anyway, the battery cost around $80 last time
seems strange that the best mp3 player [in terms of sound and functions] is one of the cheapest there
think creative has too many models now, confusing to consumers
yet the most important model may not come out, NJB4

gmail not bad, started using...
installed the notifier, which makes it function like outlook, check every 2 mins
the way messages and their replies are shown are also more logical, in chronological order
how long before i can start to offer to my friends?
-
my SR60s are suffering from intermittent transmission, sometimes i can't hear the left side, sometimes the right side
most likely a loose connection
the thick and unwieldy cable has been the only black mark on what has been a wonderful intro to quality headphones for me
is there a aftermarket solution to the cables, especially the left-right connector
does musicbydesign provide repair services?
anybody tried it?
