  1. Headamp Gilmore Dynamic Headphone Amplifier V2

Class A amp of the Gilmore dynamic variety (Dynalo)

    Fully discrete headphone amplifier.

Features dual headphone jacks, RCA preamp outputs, and TWO sets of RCA inputs. There is an additional lineout that I asked Justin to include but have since disabled it. This unit is an amazing sounding headphone amp and preamp.

  2. Been to Rameish's meet which predates SGheadphones. I think the few people in attendance were WatCult, Firefox, ablaze, another guy whom I cant remember. Blues who organised but overslept and tried to come but couldn't cause he doesn't have caller-id. Loser!!

I miss those meets especially the one in SP. Headphonecrazy, barradio, rameish and Mackie had some crazy gears at that time...

I still hang around sometimes but seldom listen to headphones now that I listen to speakers.

  3. What is 50% volume? 50% of what?

50% of my amp driving um1 will make anyone deaf instantly.

100% of ipod nano driving AKG 501 you can't even hear anything much.

The only way to judge volume is by decibels which can be measured by an SPL meter. They can be found in SLT i think.

Accepted standards for recommended permissible exposure time

  4. Probably one of the more hardcore pc audio guys around. Below is my normal setup.

    Hardware:

PC running a RME DIGI96/8 PAD soundcard -> Belden 1695A with Canare RCAP ->Ack! dAck! 1 -> amp

    Software:

    Win XP SP2

    Latest foobar2000 with ASIO output.

    CDs are extracted with EAC

Compression consists of mostly lossless. FLAC, wavpack and monkey's audio are the top three contenders. For lossy compression, it would be .ogg mostly.

    Good luck to your setup!

  5. I don't know where in Japan can you get a Stax. I did ask my friend to get one for me but she didn't manage to find a shop selling one. But I do know where to get them online. I hope you know that they need special amps as well.

Pricejapan.com is cheap but not too sure about the warranty issues.

http://www.eifl.co.jp/ is slightly more expensive but more trustable.

Sometimes ebay has them shipped from Japan as well. Have no knowledge of them.

Kingsley does carry the Omega II but they do not have it in stock. You've got to ask them to bring it in. If you manage to do so, let me know too as I am curious about the Omega II as well.

BTW I wasn't exactly blown away by the Orpheus as well. It just gets much closer to perfection than the other Staxes I tried. However, it will probably blow most people's mind away.
