I'm using the PX200 with the IRiver IP400 and it matches very well. Good bass and nice mids. At the price, $90, can't complain.

Guys, the law of diminishing returns sets in. The higher you go up the ladder, the more ex it will be to squeeze that last bit of detail. Unless that particular cable company has some proprietry technology which makes them sound special. I did experiement with JPS range of cables, their top of the line Superconductor 2 ($1.3k) and the FX ($0.6k) and the difference was that the SC2 gave you that last bit of resolution/separation and sounded just that bit more "correct". But is it worth 2x of the FX. At that point of time when I was evaluating these cables, my value system said "No".
What I generally try to do is to find that mix of good interconnect which represents excellent value and get that. The one that comes to mind is the Synergistic Research Synergy 1000 which I purchased years ago and still performs well. It only cost me $100+ for about 2m. IMO it betters the Klotz in having more sparkle without sounding bright/un-musical.
Welly makes a good point abt power & interconnects being important, not just ics, although I feel that somewhere around 15% is a more likely figure. YMMV.
Oh and Welly, if you can, take a look at the Denon 5900(A-11 in Singapore). I think you will be more satisfied with both the sound and picture quality than with the Pioneer. I've run my Denon in for about 3 weeks now and I can safely say that the sound quality of its CD, DVDA and SACD playback are competitive with dedicated CD players in the same price range, plus you get a top DVD player. Truly excellent value.

My opinion is to wait a bit more. This PDA/HP tech is still in its infancy. A little more time, and competition, and you will see better models at cheaper prices.

Having not seen/heard your room, my guess is that your room's acoustic is too "dead". You could try to reduce the amount of dampening materials. Too dead a room will also ultimately affect dynamics if you listen to speakers.

Cyndi goes retro, and does it quite well.
Those of you like jazz or blues, its very good. The recording quality is very, very good.

I mean I don't own the panasonic so I can't do a direct comparison with my t68i ..Currently I am eyeing the P900 though.. but the price.. OUCH!!
It has everything that I am looking but at the killer price of $1.4 k ughhh....
Somehow the P900 pricing in SG is ridiculously high. In the UK, its STG300, that's about $950. The hp cartels are making super normal profits.

This is what 100K looks like but I've uploaded the pics to Yahoo for your enjoymenthttp://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/headphone...crazy/my_photos
Gosh! Its sooo obscenely beautiful...

Ouch! Is it that ex?I've not ventured into that territory yet, still keeping it below $1k.
It is. OTOH, it is also the most neutral cable I've heard aside from the AS-one's. The only problem is that the AS-one's are too slow for me. Although they're fine for most people who're less anal about speed than I am.
I'll bring the JPS FX to the next meet and compare notes, it should be interesting.

Well, duckling, once you get your hands on the HD650, bring it down to the shop and test it with the SA 17 and you will know for sure. However, generally most high impedence cans will require the use of a separate headamp to sound their best. lengcm has the HD650 and knows this for a fact.
-
Wow, soo fast huh?
Is it run in yet? Good show man!
Give us a full FR when you're done, and happy
-
Have you already bought the HD650?
-
Is it today?
Thanks for all your input on the Beyer wiring, cheers

Go for the Kimber KS-1030 (S$1,360) for 1 meter pair. Ex but very good. And it's actually cheap if you consider what americans and the brits pay for this cable - US$1,200 (I'm sure there some discounting) and the Brits pay something like £1,200 or £1,100!!!In all honesty even humble CDP (mid-fi - ie below S$1000) can really show they stuff with good IC.
Power cords are another route - less bang for buck but if you intend to upgrade your components at some stage it's worth the expense.
Ouch! Is it that ex?

The sonic signature is different. Most pp love the pure triode sound, 300B, 2A3, etc... It has its charms, euphonic sound, but some feel it sounds coloured. In this respect, the Cyber30 has little flaws, infact, sounded very good. HP really knows a good amp when he sees one.
-
Excellent piece of work.It would be better if you have the option of more than one input.
Are you going to sell this commercially?
Having multiple inputs means adding a selector switch into the signal path and extra solder joints. I wasn't willing to sacrifice sonics for this as not everyone would need such a feature.
BTW, how much did the BB cost you in terms of parts alone?
Is it for sale?

Where can I get Cardas wires from?
-
Silver sounds interesting. Do you know of any which I can consider?
-
Anyone tried the Synergistic Research cables? I'm having a go at their Alpha Sterling now. Sounds pretty good.
-
Nordost Blue Heaven(IMO most bang for the buck in the entire range)I found it tilted the balance towards the treble. Sounded impressive initially, but long term listening induced fatigue. Unless your system is dark and slow, this cable will make it unbearable.

Hi Rameish or Adhoc
How's the effect of the cable change? Was there any audible improvement over the stock cord?
-
I'm just wondering if changing the wires for the Beyers could help to improve resolution, smoothness, to provide more of the "being there" factor.
Has anyone done this before?
Which wires do you recommend?
Some have done this for Senns, so I don't imagine this would be too difficult an exercise.
Cables really do make a difference!!!

Welly, good luck with your shooting and studies. Do let us know your impressions of the Pioneer.
RawHit, I got the A11 from Home Theatre Room in IMM, look for Edmund. I think it best you discuss prices with Edmund directly. If you want to listen to the Melos, drop me a PM and we can arrange a feasible date. I stay in the Clementi area.
