  1. Well if you ask here, there are both users of the PX100 and PX200. Some prefer 100 and some prefer 200. av98m for instance, likes the PX100 for its more "open" sound. I on the other hand, prefer the PX200 because I don't like to be disturbed and it does produce good sound quality. It really depends on :

    a) type of music you listen to

cool.gif how much external noises there are

Having heard both units, I do feel that the PX200 has more bass, probably due to its isolation reinforcing the bass response.

BTW, you can listen/test both out at Hung Bros. They do allow trials. I'd advise you to bring your own source so that you can assess the cans better.

  2. Not all, there were a handful of manuals. Also the GTAs are manual.

Gear changes are smooth, not as smooth as VTI auto trans or Lexus, but smooth enough. The advantage is that it is a manual gearbox, ie you don't lose as much to the auto trans, and both your hands are on the wheel almost all the time. Over 5K rpm, the gear shifts are <0.7s, as fast as any manual.

Problem is that the selespeed function has its quirks, so there's some wear and tear after some trips to the track, so you have to get used to it. What I'm trying to say is that you have to give it TLC, and in return, you get a fun driving experience.

Of course your EVO is in a diff class altogether, and diff price range as well.

  3. The iRiver PCDPs are great in terms of features and firmware upgradibility, but their sound quality is really mediocre IMHO. In fact, I found the IMP-550 harsh-sounding, esp. in comparison with my vintage sony D-5A and my friend's D-777. It's an excellent PCDP, but nowhere near great. wink.gif

If you are going for the meet, think you could bring along the D777? I'd like to have a listen.
