Cans driven directly by power amp speaker out?

This may be a stupid question but has anyone tried this before? I tried pre-amp out on my Senn HD 600 and found it to sound good. Now I'm tempted to try it on the speaker-out itself for even more drive, but I'd better check with you guys before I fry anything.

If your amp in question is a stereo integrated/power amp, the risk of frying your cans are very high. Signal from pre-amp output are of low level but those out of speakers binding posts are amplified and carries a high gain. Even if it works, U will also find volume adjustment to be rather tricky owing to the high gain.
