digi01 0 Report post Posted November 1, 2004 Very nice !!! LM3886? OPA549? Looks very neat and small... What is the silver tube on the PCB? Sanyo Os-Con? it is LM3886 invert gainclone and regulator board. the silver tube is nippon caps.this is achieved by skinning the caps,ie taking off their plastic jackets. Some people claim that this changes the sound although I cannot hear any difference but it does make them look nicer and to avoid soldering burns on the plastic jacket. digi01 0 Report post Posted November 1, 2004 Digi, what diode you use for the rectifier? The fast recovery Motorola MUR? Have you ever tried the OPA549 Gainclone? the diode is MUR860. I have tried opa541,it sound good and have a fine input performance(opa chips is mos-input stage).but the chips price is costly compare with LM3886 or 3875. digi
