Kenchi 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2006 (edited) Hey guys, I am looking for headphones & went to both Jaben/SE. Perhaps this is an existing post already but please give me some opinions? BUDGET: $150 +/- - Typically I'm a BASSHEAD, Berydynamic sounded good but, it was way, way over my budget. - I needed something with LOW impedance as I connecting 2 laptop/W800i. - I would prefer closed ones & also those who cover my whole ear, like DT 770! What I found great so far was: Grado Alessandro Series MS1, nice price, sound balanced from the first try. Its open cans, I'll visit SE again on another audition. AKG 81DJ, recommended from SE, where i started lookin..sad, its pressing on my ear. At the same time, seems like my head's rather big? I extend sides to 10 yet, it doesn't fit too well, I need like, 12? Audiotechnica A900 - Recommended by Uncle Wilson as well, but too sharp for hi-hats, i listen more to techno..$248 Berydynamic DT770 - I am not very experienced yet..so this sounded awesome. Credits 2 Uncle Wilson great, way over budget! Incase I have missed out any, suggest me? My budget is 100-150, if its over, please do suggest, I might "apply" budget extension as the sayin goes, pocket can suffer, ears? NO WAY! Thanks Guys! Kenchi 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2006 (edited) I envy you guys on the spending power on earphones! My parents doesn't seem 2 understand my NEEDS! Sad. Beyer goes like for $380+/- see if there are other alternatives.. Edited October 1, 2006 by Kenchi
ahdui 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2006 (edited) have to say, i stop stretching my hands out to get money since the age of 16-17. since den,i've been earning everything for myself. the DTX700 is around $200 a cheaper design but still it retains the beyers sound signature. Kenchi 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2006 Sounds good! Thanks, I'm yearning for a job! Could there be any around $170 just to check? I'm trying my best to go under $200 if possible..
zonalblitz_audio 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2006 Since you like Beyerdynamic, you might favour Sennheiser too. There are quite a number of pretty decent headphones below S$200 which you might wish to give a shot. Beyerdynamic DTX 700 is recommended too.
ahdui 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2006 (edited) since sennheiser is put into the picture. can try out the HD555. decent for its cost. also $200+ btw, do go down to any shops to audit them once again to reconfirm your decision. always trust your ears. Beyer goes like for $380+/- see if there are other alternatives.. Urm, well most of us here earn our own pay and are well over our 20's (or near 20s for the remaining few). Hi fidelity systems and cans are men's toy. LOL, at your age, it's your parents who won't understand. At ours, it's the wife who would make you sleep outside if you spend anything more than her heels. The misses screams if I ever spend more money/time on my cans than her or her handbags. Anyway, for electronic music, there's no need to spend over 200. You can check out sonys' v700 or technics phones. The lower range beyers and AKGs can't be beat for dance music. Kenchi 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2006 hmm! sad to say SE doesn't carry Beyerdyamic..especially covering the whole ears!
Ballack 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2006 You should try out the AD700s. It's within your budget. It's got a great bass and I didn't regret my purchase after 3 months of testing.
That dude 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2006 (edited) Why don't you go for iem's? have u tried them out yet? They provide isolation and have very strong bass without losing much on the upper end...(some of them...) Upgrade your sonys... lol I think you are better off streching your budget a little and get headphones round 200+ that area. Then upgradsitis wont hit u that quickly... lol But, then you will eventually have to buy an amp and interconnect even if those cans can be driven by a dap, u will feel the need to amp it eventually. Think about future spendature first. lol Edited October 2, 2006 by That dude
Kenchi 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2006 (edited) lol true true! will check out AD700..i tried UM2 today, AWESOME. I like my SE headphones as well, I feel they work well with equalizers & stuff...but I thought of giving big headphones a chance..grab the BIG BOYS! woohoo! Went SE again & now have a clearer direction. Small Impedance, high sensitivity, I don't mind open cups. Good but NOT muddy bass, smooth, rich bass...aaah..music has never tasted this smooth & delicious..especially, with Avenged Sevenfold - Sieze the Day..perhaps recommend me similar crisp & smooth track? yummy..
