iPod + Crossroad amp + UM1 = more bass?

Hi all, i just purchased a UM1 for 1 week, and to be honest i'm quite dissapointed in term of bass quantity.

 

UM1 has very good bass quality in my opinion, but it lacks the quantity. As i'm a heavy bass-head, i looked sad when i listened to songs with my UM1 directly from iPod, without amp. The reason why i looked sad is because when i play rock/heavy music, the bass sounds like hands clapping. Especially Akon's smack-that. Sigh... I'm here in KL, and westone is not so popular. So if i were to sell it, i'll lose money. I wonder, if amps can help for this matter. Anyone experience bass improvement from using amp? What phones and amps you use?

 

NB: The UM1 is not a bad phone at all, the treble is among the best i've heard. Jazz sounded fantastic. But it's not my thing.. I hope this thread can be useful for others ^^.
