i just bought a macbook pro, and got a shuffle as it's on promotion. what i found from the shuffle is the awkward method of adding song. there's no playlist. only one button and one way only to upload the song to the shuffle, which is trough the "autoload" or what button (forget the name). and another sad news is, the shuffle unable to play song with bit-rate higher than 128. SAD. Most of my songs are in apple loss less form, which bit rate is about 800-1K. So, to play them on shuffle, i have the option to convert all songs with higher bit rate to 128 from the iTunes. So, after converting, it's still not as impressive. I don't know if the first gen shuffle works this way. But 2nd gen shuffle dissapoints me ~~. Maybe i require some getting used to. LoL~~

Erm.. the Sony NW series i mentioned earlier is the Sony NW-E002F. But i've set the EQ to my own preference (custom), and in my humblest opinion, i like it beter than my friend's shuffle. But when EQ is off, shuffle sounds better. Comparison is done using PX100. I don't try listen with volume set to 1/31 coz for me, if it's not hissing in my moderate listening volume, it's good enuff for me. How about the 2nd gen shuffle? they sound good? better than 1st gen shuffle? i like the blue coloured one.

i'll go for portable CD player for really serious listening, DAP for travelling, music phones for erm.. share some good songs with friends? this is all i can think of. hehe.. but i do have some good time listening to music in my old nokia 3300 and N91. But the N91 let me down with faulty HDD Y_Y..

eh? i don't know, but maybe it's just me. i found that my sony NW walkman sounds better than my 5th Gen iPod, right from the 3.5mm jack. Even when i pair my iPod with Xtra X1 (listening to similar song using Senn PX100), i found they sound very similar if not better on the sony. My bro and a friend of mine feels the same though.. bass is there, mids and highs are also crystal clear.

i think mine is the less bassy one -.-

from what i've experience, it sounds better on my sony mp3 player than on my ipod video. it has bass, but not really that much. sometimes the treble are too high for my ears. but maybe it's just me. as these days, i found my self more of a headphone guy rather than an earphone guy. so my experience could be biased. hehehe..

bro, you can find some in vivo city, there's this shop called DC lifestyle if i'm not mistaken, selling flashback chrome colour vibes for SGD115. Otherwise, if you want the gunmetal black, you can get it in apple in wheelock for SGD190. IMO, the chrome looks better and for the price difference, it's not worthy to get the black one. nevertheless, choices are yours. Have a great day ^^.

question, does the improvement from using amp can be felt even with headset like PX100? i bought Xtra-X1 amp from jaben, using lineout from iPod, the difference is not so "wow" from listening directly from iPod. Any idea? The Xtra-X1 amp also considered as "entry level" too? Or maybe the PX100 can be driven so easily, so it doesn't make big difference when i plug it into the amp? Elighten me.. please ^^.

eugene, i second that. i own 5G (some call em 5.5G) iPod, 80GB but they sound weaker than my sony mp3 player. I forget the series, the one that look like pen-drive one, not the noice cancelling type. The SQ on my sony is better than iPod.
