Patrick has wired all sorts of stuff. But no, I don't know if he has recabled headphones but I am sure it is not a problem to him. If he can't do it, he won't do it.

I got the young guy at Avit (SL Sq 2nd Storey) to do a silver cable for my Senn 600/650 using my old 600 connectors and changing the connector to a 3.5mm. It is working fine. Maybe you can try him.

I'm thinking of having my k1000 hardwired with equinox cables, but apparently it appears to be quite an intricate procedure

I think he mentioned AVIT at SLS, 2nd story. Its somewhere near the escalator but it takes sometime to find if you don't know where it is exactly.
