hey ya'll. just signed up here.

i've got myself a brand new ATH-EW9 the one with the wooden casing.

what do you all think of it?

worth the price?

anyway i've thought of getting some portable amps,as i really want to improve my music. would it help my EW9?

hopefully around two hundred, but if wouldn't mind a bit over 200 (as in not 300), if it is really worth it.

any recommendations?

oh ya i use my EW9 with an iPod usually at 40-60% volume depending on the song.

i like it's clarity alot but its bass seems to lack erm.. strength?

would an amplifer improve the overrall sound?

any recommendations?

A "good" amplifier would help definitely but the main reason why the EW9 bass lacks "strength is because it doesn't clamp nicely onto your ears. You might have also realised that by pushing the EW9 towards your ears improves the bass, but you can't be doing that all the time.

yep, i kinda know about the EW9 downsides, and i've bigger sealed headphones for home uses. But i like using my EW9 in long car rides or for studying in a quiet room outside home, like my class or the library.

i've a pretty small ear, so the EW9 seems to fit just nicely, covering almost my entire ear.

Most songs I've listened to, are mainly instrumental or have powerful vocals. So the EW9 is perfect in that aspect.

but for some songs i just want abit more bass, but not overboard.

is there an amplifer that has as an emphasis on bass ?

hopefully it will it up the bass a lil, to give me a better experience.
