does a direct ipod line out matter

hi all. for all of you who use ipods with amplifiers, im sure most of you use the line out as the signal into your amps. however, the question is whether a direct line out cable which is made together with the interconnect is significantly different sonically as compared to taking the signal out via a line out dock such as the crossroads line out dock then through a decent interconnect. taking into the considerations of price as well as the convenience and versatility of being able to experiment with interconnects, is the premium paid for such line out cables worth it as compared to using a line out dock and a seperate interconnect? from my experience, the former doesnt prove its price premium over the latter which is often looked down upon by " true " audiophiles. can anyone share their opinions on this. thanks

Yes the number of connectors and cable DO matter.

its just how much you are bothered by it.

Perhaps if you have a trained ear, you might catch the difference.

if you listen to line out dock with amp, you can't go back to the headphone out. You will start to hear the difference. It is just me. I am no audiophiles though.
