evilmerlin 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2008 (edited) Introducing the iBasso P3 Heron! Here's the blurb from the website. The P3 Heron is ready except the enclosure. Once we get the enclosure supply, we will release the P3. The P3 has 6 sockets for opamps and buffers. It can load single or dual opamps. It is powered by 6 AAA batteries or the adapter. We will provide a free opamp rolling kit including some opamps and buffers for the P3 owner. Very excited about this, should make for lots of fun times with opamp rolling. Looks quite simple though, hopefully it'll sound good. Edited September 6, 2008 by evilmerlin

dle4e_2005 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2008 They should clone the SuperMicro and Reference. Alvin1118: The 5 opamp part really reminds me of Xin SuperMacro.
kevinsit 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2008 Nice evilmerlin! This is an exciting amp to look forward to. I wonder how it will compare with the D2 Viper.
Stereo_Electronics 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2008 D2 viper is a DAC/AMP while the P3 is only an AMP.
evilmerlin 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2008 Yup and if you've no need for a DAC but want to roll opamps then this one should do just fine. The only thing is how it sounds as I'm pretty sure the circuitry and capacitors are a factor not just the opamps (though they have the largest impact)
kevinsit 0 Report post Posted September 7, 2008 I wonder whether the circuitry will model after the P2 or D2. D2 Viper's will make the better choice I feel, seeing how the head-fiers have came up with many great opamp combos for it.
evilmerlin 0 Report post Posted September 8, 2008 (edited) Some guys on head-fi have commented that it looks quite similar to the D3 Python but most circuit boards look the same anyway so we won't know until someone gets a closer look. Oh and it should be available in about 9-10 days when I asked iBasso about it. Edit: Cost is US$179 including shipping. evilmerlin 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2008 Should be around there but not sure when Stereo would actually be able to get them in though.
kevinsit 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2008 Hm probably Stereo will get it later since shipping will take time. Hope someone on Head-Fi will get it first and do a review on it... Heh...
evilmerlin 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2008 And its out! Good set of opamps too.
kevinsit 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2008 The opamps are pretty much like what was recommended on Head-Fi. Wonder whether they will sound the same on P3 as on D2...
evilmerlin 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2008 No idea, I'll just wait for the people on head-fi to do it..hahahha
