Anyway back to topic, for a sound student, i'd wouldn't hesitate to get the Beyer DT-150. IMO its the best monitoring cans existant (lets not get to exotic with things above 1k).

 

But monitoring and listening are 2 different things altogether, so you have to know what you need. I wouldn't get the DT-150 for my daily listening for example.
