hellamatrix 0 Report post Posted March 29, 2009 (edited) Hi there, I am looking for a headphone or if possible headphone+amp for mostly classical music like symphonies and etc and just a little bit of pop music. It also should be comfortable as it will be needed for long usage and should be able to handle movies as well. Thanks! Oh yeah, a full headphone is preferred. EDIT : Sorry guys, I have decided to go for the headphones instead as I prefer a more surround sound. Thanks! Edited March 29, 2009 by hellamatrix

blackmouth0 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2009 i second that, the UE is good for classical music, The full range of instrument you can feel. UE also have a good bass respond, a very low and deep frequency respond, which is good for classical music currently UE having promo for all their range of earphone, maybe you can drop by to SE and check it out? chintimin 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2009 Errr. Classical, huh? Like, the question is still: do you want thrummy, or do you want detail and clarity? Thrummy is good for power, gives a strong emotional response, esp. to bassheads. closed is louder, less amping required, open is more detail, takes more power, has less bass as a rule of thumb. Also need to know your level of portability requirements. Headphones to check out: Grado SR80i, AKG K701 (K702 same thing) <- both of these NEED an amp, at least a CMOY), Sennheiser HD280/380, Denon D2000, Beyerdynamic DT770/880 (benefits from an amp a fair bit), Bose TriPort Around-Ear, and you pretty much get what you pay for at whatever price point from Audiotechnica. jyle 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2009 Home usage? How about Shure SRH840? Just below 350.

However the AKG 701 is very hard to drive, using an amp is recommend. Why not consider the shure and MS 1 to your list. ATH ES 7 also make a good choice. bevan 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2009 second the ms1, grados, shure and the ath ES7. Comfort wise the clamping force of the ES7 cups might be a bit too strong, but you can do the headband mod to it.
