    Sony V6

Ok...i know its dumb to start a new thread just to ask where the Sony V6 retails in Singapore and for how much.....but i really want to know....lol , any idea ? ( btw, i know the LSV company carries the 7506 but they are too expensive at 195 bucks...and i read that Mustapha carries the V6s, but the post was made a year back...any idea if they still have stock? )
  3. Hehe, my dad is yet again making a trip to China. He got me the Cayin HA-1A amp which i absolutely love, and i was thinking of asking him to help me check out new stuff over there since he will be going off to Shanghai and maybe Beijing in a week's time. Im particularly interested in the Chinese-made CDPs. Esp the ShanLing CD-T100 or CD-T200 ( sacd player ) which are absolutely GORGEOUS. and perhaps the Shengye CD-S10 CDP. Anyone have any idea how much they actually cost? ( I know the Shanling CD-T100 and 200 are highly regarded ( not so sure about the Shengye though. Oh, here's a few links for you guys to drool over the shanling and shengye ...have fun! Shengye CD-S10 : http://www.shengya-audio.com/prod/cd/cd-s10en.htm Shanling CD-T100 : http://www.shanling.com/images/image_e/CDT-100_001.jpg Shanling CD-T200 : http://www.shanling.com/SCD-T200.htm Wanted to add in the Cayin CDP too , The Cayin CD-T15A, which is a real looker itself too....imagine this CDP + my Cayin Head amp lol Cayin CD-T15A: http://www.sparkaudio.com/ecp02.asp?id=88 I swear they look real sweet.....
  4. erm...so how much are the DT250s going for compared to the V6s? ( arent they abit large to be considered portable ? ) heh
  5. OT: for me, the Grados are ok on my head ( Maybe im used to it now ), hm. Any idea where i can get the V6s and how much? thx
  6. lol im shaven so prob i dont care about people looking at my head too hahaha
  7. Hm...have a qns. Do the V6s display the same kind of sound as the 7506s? Are they very portable and do they actually look very big on an average sized head? hehehe.... BTW, how much are the V6s?
  8. Heh, Personally, i rather go for something that is low profile. The DT660s are too big and silver to be considered "portable" for me. Ive been looking at 2 cans, the Sony V6s ( 7506s ) and Senn HD25-1s, which seem to make good sense. FYI, i listen to quite a large range of music from metal ( Anata, Arch enemy, converge ) progressive rock ( Dream theatre ), emo ( Dashboard confessional, Get-up kids ) to Jazz ( Chet Baker, Norah Jones, Lisa Ono, Dave Brubeck ), World ( Ruben Gonzalez ), vocals ( Alison Krauss, Tracy Chapman, Joss stone...) and classical......lol, hiphop at times too.....haha i could go on forever hehe sorry for the senseless ramblings.
  9. Hello all, Currently, my portable setup is a muvo2 - A47 amp - E2c/Px200s. For a period of time, i was using the E2cs in this setup and thought they were good. The isolation was superb, with suprisingly good bass with the highs a little muffled (eg rolled off ). That was the E2s with A47 amp. Before i went into this headphone craze, my setup was the Muvo2 + PX200. Recently, i tried the Px200 + A47 + Muvo2 and was pleasantly suprised. The PX200s, IMO, when amped are very, very good. I love the bass that it produces! The low-end bass is enough to give me goosebumps. It is very meaty with a nice, organic feel to it. All these without sacrificing the mids and highs ( although at times i wish the treble was a little less rolled-off ) IMO, this E2/A47 setup is a humble yet very satisfying and at times spectacular setup ( Im thinking of selling my E2cs ) The thing is, are there any other cans out there ( i think i kinda give-up on ear-canals ; too intrusive and troublesome at times ) which are closed and can better the PX200s? Hehehe.
  10. Sorry for the bother, but my friend is asking again if it makes sense to get a HDCD player if since he has a tube amp, (asl mghead) should he splurge on a hdcd capable player or just a normal cd player?
  11. Does anyone have any introductions on classical pieces that are used in OSTs of most war-themed movies? ( eg, Saving private ryan, Band of brothers and the like....) Hm i quite like the introduction to Brotherhood ( the korean war flick ) Basically, its like i want something atmospheric, moving and aggressive. Argh i cant seem to put this into words, but yea, its something along this line. Sorry if this didnt make alot of sense lol.

Perhaps it might be a case of me getting bored of how my E2cs sound. I recently just used my PX200s on my Muvo2 - A47 ( courtesy of tropicalrips ) setup and i was thoroughly impressed by how rich sounding it was. It could be a case of the PX200s exhibit the trademark richness of Sennheiser cans. Maybe u did like to consider getting an amp for your PX200s? It worked well for me. It might for you too. (lol sounds like an advert)

Grados are different imo. I wouldnt use a Grado in the public. It wouldnt make sense as the open-back design leaks too much and lets too much in. That, imo, will destroy the quality of the music and at the same time irritate people around you.... The Grados sound great, sure, but to me, it wouldnt make sense using it on the go.... I think closed phones and Canal phones are the only ones to be considered for portable use, if anything, for practical reasons.

Hm. I have to agree with kidd here. The PX200 are awesome, but imo they need an amp to really shine. Somehow, my PX200 amped seems to sound better then my E2s amped....The PX200 has really superb bass which is strong and thumpy yet not muddy and still stays coherent with the rest of the music! I dunno if anyone agrees, but YMMV. Either that or i might be going deaf.

Pardon my ignorance, but what would the above mentioned equipment ( Eg - DNM Reson with Bullet plugs, Marantz CD7300 and Kimber Silver streaks cost? ) I know adeplhi carries them, but where can i get them for the best bang for the buck ? thanks....

Hm. The SR-125s were extremely sibilant when i paired them with a solid-state. However, with the change to tubes that are now more or less properly burned-in, the Sr-125s produce a surprisingly sweet treble ( detailed and musical without being overly sibilant ). They're not bright to me... yep....
  19. Hi all, i have a friend who recently asked me this qns :" Do tubes actually deliver less information than Solid state amps? If so, would that justify getting a HDCD player to use with a tube-amp? If the fact that tubes do actually produce less information, wouldnt it make no difference if i get a HDCD player with tubes and not be able to tell the difference btw a CDP with tubes? " Hm. That question got me stumped. Would greatly appreciate it if anyone could shed light on that. Thx!

    U mean the CD3000s?

    What next?

Hm......Heard the CD3000s are bright if not amped properly...besides, they dont sell them in Singapore lolol....Will anyone be kind enough to let me listen to them?

Okok, i dont have much to do, so i guess i'did post this. Firstly, ill let to thank everyone here at sgheadphones for being incredibly helpful and forgiving to a noobie like me. Ive learnt quite alot ( and am still in the process of that ) I've gained quite alot of insight into this very intriguing whole of cans ; which to me is somewhat akin to high resolution listening wihtout speakers at a cheaper price. Ok now that im done with all this boot-lickin, let's get down to business. As you can see in my sig, my setup is rather ok ( IHMO, YMMV, BBQ, PIE, yadadadada ) I would just like to enquire what would make the next most sensible upgrade? ( Besides the source, which im in the process of changing to either a Philips 963A or Marantz CD5400 - once ive made up my mind ) I did like to tube roll soon, once ive decided which tubes to get.... Which boils down to this, i think my ICs are the weakness in my system. I cant even remember the brand even! I bought them at like 50 bucks ( i think they are manufactued in Taiwan ) They sound good too me, but what i feel is that upgrading my ICs will no doubt bring me better sound. ( Can anyone recommend a IC that offers transparency and a solid yet musical bass ? ) And another thing, I love how my SR125s rock, but they seem to be unable to portray certain instruments individually without blurring everything up at times, and my DT880 are articulate, involving and intimate, yet not being very exciting at times... So i was wondering if getting the RS-1 would help in the long run...or perhaps even the HD595s which seem to be more exciting HD650 ( i dont like the HD600s?650s for the fact that they seem to thick and subdued ) Im confused about the cans part.....oh well. ( MS2 anyone? gah ) Oh well, i guess this seems something like i would read on headfi.org, but i did rather post here cos i cant seem to stand headfi more and more. At least the replies here are sensible. heh. Thanks for your time.
  23. Hmmmm, food for thought. Ive read that last year, 1.3 Million SACDs were sold in the states. Compare that with 756 Million CDs. In terms of life-span, its a safe guess to say that the humble CD still will be around for awhile to come.... It seems that all in all, a good, reliable redbook CDP is still a very good and solid bet. So there, my 2 cents worth. (Ps- The Marantz CD5400 seems sooooooooooo very tempting, and at the price it retails for, it seems like a no-brainer [ im on a shoestring budget you see]) cheers.
