    Qns on impedance

hm. ok. i guess my qns is answered yet again. Thanks all!
  5. Hello, as a few of you guys might know already, im a new ( and proud ) owner of the Cayin HA-1A ( Bought straight from the mainland at approximately 450 SGD heh ) I've heard that the stock tubes in the Cayin are rather "grainy" and by changing the russian/chinese tubes, the graininess will be reduced while enhancing warmth and sound-depth. Having said so, it is rather obvious that im interested in tube-rolling. However, being relatively new to this, I have no idea what tubes are suitable and HOW to change the tubes. Is it as simple as taking out the cover and removing the tubes and replacing them with new tubes? ( I.e. Changing light-bulbs ) Or is it something slightly more complicated. Also, which tubes can help achieve a lush sound while helping to reduce the grainy sound and at the same time help to to tigthen and perhaps extend the bass response to a tad lower ? ( I.e. Making it more suitable for Jazz and perhaps a little metal/rock ) Sorry to disturb you guys again

    Qns on impedance

Yeah i know. So say 0-32 ohms is suited for the Sr125s. But with that, comes the humming. Above 32 ohms, the humming is lessened. But will the SR125s handle the higher impedence without being damaged?

    Qns on impedance

One question....Just had a Cayin HA-1A brought in from China. Using my SR-125s on it. At the impedenzer at the back, with 0-32 ohms setting, i noticed quite abit of humming, but when i change the impedence to s step up eg > 32 ohms, the humming is lessened remarkably. Will the higher impedence damage the Sr125s ( as its impedence is only rated at 32 ohms ) Or will a higher impedence from the Cayin actually benefit the Grado sound?

  12. Hello all, have a qns. Recently purchased a SR125. I know it has 32 impedance. However, the amp im using at home is a really old integrated amp ( NAD 3155 ). Ive heard that it can drive cans of impedance up to 600 ohms. Would this have any adverse on sound? Would getting a dedicated headamp DRAMATICALLY improve sound? And would my amp's high power output have a degrading effect on my the low impedance Grados? Thanks in advance!

  20. Hey thx....its a BBE audio restorer....Without it, my setup is quite dark and muddy, and the restorer helps to bring out the brightness, althought at times its slightly harsh althought it can be rectified by turning down the "definition" knob .....( think i need it cos my amp is 20 years old )
