  1. If your music collection worth more than your sound system, you are a music lover. An audiophile thinks CD is just a piece of plastic that carries some data which can be read and translated to sound when played on a system (that's all). In this world, only audiophiles will classify "vocals" as a music genre!!! (I used to ask a 100% audiophile, who works in a shop at Adelphi, about his fave muisc genre. He told me "I like vocals" ).
  2. Hi folks, I'm looking for a good-sounding Mcro hifi for my study room. Budget is at around $500 and I'll be using it for only listening music (rock music to be precise ). Yesterday saw this Panasonic SC-PM91 at Havey Norman. Tested the unit in the begining just found it so-so sounding but after fiddling with its EQ I was kinda impressed. Sound was crispy clear althought it could be a bit bright to my ears. Bass was pretty impactful (no boominess). Sound was lively and open whem advance surround feature was activated. Overall I wouldn't say it qualifies as "excellent" in sound but in my opinion it's the best among the other brands (eg, JVC and Philips) that I had tested at the shop. This baby comes with a price tag of $429 which is also one of the more "expensive" micro systems in the shop. The system looks pretty good on papers too as it says on the website this baby uses 3-way speakers(!), Hybrid(?) bi-amping and total o/p rated at 160W RMS. The system is quite compact in size which is ideal for my small and packed study room. Anyone has comments about this system? Any other recommendation you might think that has better value (forget about yamaha and denon as they are out of my budget)? On Panansonic website it indicates another system namely SC-PM148 which looks quite promising too. Any comment about that one too? http://www.panasonic.co.uk/hi-fi/scpm91d/index.htm I would appreciate any advise. Thanks in advance.
