  1. I think they went on with it, Sad! It was in the papers, a memorial was held for those cats though. My wife went watery eyes, so did I actually
  2. Teaken, For less than $100 bucks go for the D66's, I know I want one!
  3. Now my taste in music is very diverse (mature) so to speak
  4. Zen, I used to be a right metalhead hair up to my bum and stuff I was going to spin Depeche Mode - Violator, but thought it's late maybe tomorrow! Come to think of it I'll also include New Order in tomorrow's spin list!
  5. Try to keep it simple! Here's on my tonight's spin list :- 1. Foo Fighters - One byOne 2. Nirvana - MTV Unplugged 3. Tesla - Five Man Acoustical Jam 4. Sound Garden - Super Unknown We can make this a very long thread I hope, and maybe some indication of our taste in music. Regards
  6. What I do is as much as I can, buy the stuff second hand! Haggle your friend to sell you one of his head amp and you got the ball rolling. Then comes the decision on which Headphone to get sigh! My Ety's are less than SGD 500 shipped from the states, now I call that a bargain
  7. Nice job Fishball! Maybe you can make Sipher and me a mini to mini cable So how?
  8. "Ulu" is confirmed as a malay word meaning source of a river and hence isolated and rarely populated by humankind. Derived from "hulu" Can also mean the the handle for parang Don't want to use it in that context.
  9. har, D66 how old and condition? Thanks!
  10. OK here we go! Bear with me this is a spontaneous write up. I've been holding back on posting my assessment on the Headsave META Mint built by tigger due to limited hardware as comparison. My main let down was the Transducers department, the B&O A8 just won't cut it although it will serve as the "other" end of the spectrum (comparison wise). I'm writing this as I am burning the Etymotics Research ER 4S, that is in another post. Source equipment, iPod and PowerBook G4(mp3 128k-192k compression, AAC 160k compression), Meridian 206B CDP (Bitstream decoding) Comparison Amp, JMT META42 heavily modified by KurtW. Headphones, Ety's 4S and B&O A8 Upon first power up I can immediately hear the power coming (iPod META A8 combo) . From cold the Mint sounded thin and harsh but the delivery of music was instantaneous. Initially things sounded subdued akin to an empty room that needs to be filled up in a musical sense volume needed to be turned up. Having said that I would say not much different from directly plugging into the iPod raw. Brunt in! Flawless power (well until battery runs out) music full bodied. Bass slightly extended but in a very precise sense, as you would imagine Phil Collins drums sounded more controlled on In the Air Tonight. Acoustic guitars on Nirvana's MTV Unplugged have detailed presence although the sibilance on the High's are a little bit to pronounced (I suspect the compression on mp3 although on AAC a slight improvement in treble control, also the new Ety's) not on CD's though. I think there is more improvements to be made in my compression techniques for example horns on Dire Straits Your Latest Trick, the Mint scrutinises the sax's like it poorly produced, going back to CD on the same track seems more involving. Vocals are too forward I blame this also on the Ety's not run in yet, maybe! Summing it all up I find it a very well suited partner to my iPod in portable mode. I can't make myself go back to plugging in naked without the Mint (with the iPod). I would recommend it to your portable setup (if you don't mind the extra Mint tin in your pocket). I just pack them in my pouch to move around. Musical presentation can only bettered by the JMT META. But for portable listening/bedside setup go figure..........I'm a happy camper! Will post version 2 on Ety's 4S has landed thread
  11. Subdued? yeah kinda! the eggo's and gilmore playing with my mind. This burning in period is so frustrating

  16. This isolation business is no joke man!
  17. Pick it up from the post office this afternoon! First impressions WoW zer....... iPod to META Mint ahhhhh 4S, who said theres thin bass. I would call it tight. Post more when its burnt in properly!
  18. Congrats jarthel! Great looking Gilmore, will you build one for anybody? I bet it sounds good to with the CD3k
  19. Congrats Mackie! Sorry no ang pow ok.
  20. Yeah! It seem the only way of getting them is from the States. But then there is the charger issue, it can only take in 110-115v AC.
  21. I would sum up the sound quaity can be bettered with other alternatives even cheaper ones IMHO. Guy nailed it that there just no VFM on the B&O's. Cheers!
  22. The contraption the B&O has got, does serve its purpose of keeping the buds in place (optimum position) but it hurts after awhile. The billet construction also makes it heavier than most earphones. IME
  23. Nice! I have a pair warmed up, burnt in and everything, then a good friend of mine made me listen to his RS-1, HD600, ER 4S and the daeng hard to get D66's. I'd advice you not to get them, get the D66 instead! In this case looks are very decieving........ BTW Welcome to SGHeadphones fxf
  24. PPA is a step further development of the META, Jung Loop topology...
