I have just set up the wikipedia page on Westone. Would appreciate if any of you guys could help me and do up the page. Not really professional looking now.
-
Wow, based on this, the UM-1 is the most "value for money" IEMs, being in two categories, one of which is above its actual price range.
-
How about balanced armature drivers?
-
Judging by your review, it seems like quite a good IEM, given its extremely low price (for a new IEM). This might very well spark a new trend for IEMs in Singapore. IEMs seem to be gaining popularity slowly, but their steep prices usually put people off.
-
Too bad, only one can experience it, unilke the speaker system. Only you get to enjoy the U10 (custom made), so there's no showing off for the sound quality.
-
Definitely. First higher-end purchase. Not looking for any others in a long while. Still have my Creatives EP-630 and HQ-1700
-
In terms of headphones, I'll go with the U10 from UE with the HeadRoom Max Balanced Amp. Throw in an E-MU 1820M soundcard and play directly from the computer, in a quite room preferably. $5600+ "only". When compared to the 400K system, this is peanuts.
-
Good for people who want to convert from stock buds to IEMs. Looks decent for its price. Not sure how it sounds though.
-
The comply tips fit rather well, because the exapnd to fit must ear shapes. More inconvinient though, as one has to compress before putting it in ear.
-
US$10 - 20? Not too sure though.
-
There's the ear wax loop to remove the stuck wax. The hole seems too small for wax to go through though.
-
The original foams are really comfortable, just that they are a bit inconvinient, given the fact that you have to compress it before putting it into your ear and holding it for about 10 seconds to expand again. The sound isolation is great though, could feel my heart beating while wearing it.
-
Actually, if you wait, I'm sure the price will go lower (pre-launch and launch prices usually capitalize on the fact that the consumers are desperate for the new product)
-
So are you saying that only dynamic drivers need the burn in?
-
Is there a need to burn in the IEMs?
-
Bought the UM1 finally. Sounds much "bigger" and clearer that the EP-630. However, I can sometimes hear the spinning of the CD when used on the CD player. Never mind though, will use it mostly for my Zen Micro. EDIT: The spinning is only heard on my old classical music CD.

UM2 from Westone -- $499 Dual Driver, "similar to E5". You could also always wait for the E500 from Shure, which will most likely begin shipping in June.
-
It seems that Shure, Etyomic Research and audio techinca are more popular in Singapore. Ultimate Ears are quite rare, along with Westones (except in this forum).
-
Shouldn't that be in classifieds?
-
Not that I know of anyone who is selling this, but I've recently seen a shure press release. I may be slow, and you guys may know of this. Press Release The triple driver IEM will most likely begin shipping in May, at US$499. (cheaper than the U10 and even E5). Want to get it for free, win this competition by iLounge.

Rachael Yamagata - I'll Find a Way (Happenstance) Michael Buble - You and I (It's Time) The Corrs - Time Enough for Tears (Borrowed Heaven) Jamie Cullum - 21st Century Kid (Catching Tales) Nelly Furtado - Childhood Dream (Folklore)
-
Wow, if that is so, all the more I should get it.
-
Ety triflange does not come with a stem, unlike the Shure triflange, so I shouldn't use it on the UM1, right? (unless I am making it into a Biflange by cutting, something which I am not too confident about) Err... I am a student, and I doubt anyone I know of buys westones, except you guys at SGheadphones (knowing that most students don't really care about how the are listening, just what they are listening to, using the 'hip' iPod ) Thanks, but I don't think so. May choose to buy a shure triflange.
-
$189 for the UM-1? It seems to cost much more elsewhere. Other than foam tips, do they come with the other silicon/rubber tips?
