  1. You should try the Westone UM1. Head down to Stereo Electronics for some auditioning when you have some time to spare. I'm sure their friendly staff will give you the appropriate advice.
  2. You might want to consider a pair of Westone UM1 or Etymotic ER6i. They may be a little over your budget (price 2 years ago) but are really good entry earphones. Your pick between them will be subjected to personal preference. As for me I like the ER6i and went for an ER4P/S. Those who chose the UM1s eventually went for the UM2 and ultimately the Westone 3. You should try them out before you invest in any. A good place will be Stereo Electronics at Causeway point.
  3. I believe they're of similar properties. No harm using Silica packs or crystals.
  4. They do really well straight out of my 1G Nano. However the volume will be about 70-80%.
  5. From what I know, about 2 years back, Stereo Electronic carries the Westone hard case for IEMs. There is a replaceable gel pack in it which serves the same purpose. I'm not sure if they carry them anymore, but you can try PM or calling them up.
  6. They didn't get much stares or sorts while on the streets. I think they're more an elegant piece that compliments than an accessory that shouts for attention. More like a subtle piece of antique watch as compared to diamond Rolex. I'll try to sit more to the front next time. Engines are crapping things out for me. Walking with these I feel safer than my IEMs. But I don't know about rain.
  7. They sound really good for a portable and go very well with my Mustang P-51. Burn in definitely helps open things up and I thought some of the stuffs I heard in the track where actually things going on outside my room. Kinda scares me. I very much want to use these on the go but it doesn't isolate too well. I was at the rear of the bendy bus and it's just engine roar instead of my music all the way. Walking around with them on the street is totally fine and enjoyable. It also doesn't tire me out like how my ER4S will but those will be used more for commute because of better isolation. I'll might be going to KL for the end of the year and I very much want to try if these will be good for long distance travel.
  8. Maybe we have to spend to recoup for recession?
  9. Gotten my ESW10 this evening. Plugged it in since I reached home and it's still on my head right now. I just can't seem to stop, it's plugged into my Mustang P-51 btw.
  10. To those who are still in doubt about the Mustang being charged, here is how: The power indication light will only turn on when the switch is ON. So this is how you tell how much charge your amp is holding by the switch light: Blinking/ Pulsating Red - Very Low Charge (You should charge it now) Faint Red - Half or Low Charge. Bright Red - Full to High Charge. You can turn On the switch every now and then to monitor the charge. Currently mine has run 2 days after the 1st charge and is still going well.
  11. I can't do a comparison between them because I haven't heard and I don't have the tomahawk with me. I just started to let it burn in so I'll have to document the sound every few hours or so. It's stated that a hundred hours would suffice.
  12. I must say that I'm really impressed with Stereo Electronics for their excellent staff and service. I was able to return and exchange for products which didn't suit my usage. Thanks again Arron. Looking forward to collecting my esw10 next week!
  13. I just got to take the Mustang in my own hands. It's really really very small. It should like it's got lots of potential right out of the box and I'm going to charge them now. I'll try to put up some comparison photos and allow it to burn in for the next few days.
  14. Hi, Just heard from a fellow Head Fi-er that his SR71A was shipped without notice. No acknowledgment of payment receipt or shipping details, tracking, etc. He thought that Paypal had not approved of his transaction but the Amp made it's surprise delivery. Hope this helps. Regards.
  15. Hi, I believe some of you guys have ordered the Mustang P-51. Let's have a thread where we can discuss and lave feedbacks about it. Lastly, has anyone had confirmation from RSA that their amps were shipped yet? Regards.
  16. Hi, You can try ATH-ESW9 or ATH-ESW10JPN. Anything better will be a price to pay. Regards.
  17. Hi, Audio Technica S.E.A replied my mail quoting that the ESW10 will be out on the first week of December. Here is their reply: First of all, we thank you for being our customer. When Audio-Technica introduced the ATH-ESW10JPN, it is more for the Japanese market rather than for world wide. This is because some of the world markets might not be able to accept the way the headphone is being constructed and the cost for it. But in the Japanese market, this sort of headphone is being considered ‘an art’ rather as a signal reproducing device. Headphone audiophiles in Japan bought these as a collectable items. Therefore in Japan, it is a limited edition model and it limit a production of just 1,000 units. I’m sure individual like yourself would like to own a piece of this ‘art’ and therefore all regional sales office in Europe, US, HK/China, Taiwan, Korea and Australia will carry some stocks to fulfil their own market. So you are right to say 1,000 units( Japanese languages) are made for Japan excluding those for outside Japan. Since this headphone is a Limited edition, their parts are also in limited qty., but certain parts of our other model, ESW9 can be use for ESW10JPN. In the event the limited edition parts are not available we will recommend the parts of ESW9. A good example is the driver unit, ear-pads and arms. The most important part that you must take care is the lacquer ear-cups because all of them are handmade. The headphone will be available on the first week of December. Thank you and I’m sure you would enjoy the true quality of these cans. Best regards, Vincent Chan Audio-Technica SEA Looks like it will go as planned after all. Can't wait to get them. Regards.
  18. Hi, I can't find either. I guess we have to order from APS direct.
  19. I tried both the esw9 and esw10 last Sunday and ordered the esw10. However they will only arrive end of this or early next month. Meanwhile got to get a hard case for them as it only comes with a soft pouch. Will post more details when possible.
  20. Just gotten the iBasso D3 Python and currently burning them in with the DAC too. Results should be better after the 1st 100hour...
  21. Hi, I'm looking at the Predator or Pico at the moment. Still not quite sure which will go better with my ER4. Regards.
  22. Hi, I'm looking for a portable amp that will maximize the potential of my ER4P or even when used with the S converter. Which will be the ideal choice? And a good LOD for my iPod too... Regards.
  23. I did a little research and a friend actually recommended the Cowon X5. I'm not quite sure how it compares to the D2? I will give the Zune a pass since I'm using a Mac and want something compatible. Will anyone with experience care to share about the X5 or D2? Will be helpful if you PM me the place to get and at how much I should reasonably pay for them.
