  1. Nope, after I cut out the smallest flange, it can go quite deep. Before that, the smallest flange keep poking the deep bits of my ears and was very annoying. Because of the length, the earphones also stick out too much. Bi-flange is the way to go.
  2. I cut the smallest off mine. Not only does it fit me, my girlfriend can wear comfortably too. Try inserting yrs to the middle flange and see if isolate well and stays on securly for you. If not, keep the largeest flange and cut off the smallest. Triflanges are pretty soft, softer than soft flexes, shouldn't have much trouble with the fit.
  3. I think the ie20xb looks a bit different than the 5eb?
  4. New discussion thread: What brand oil/lotion/body butter best for your triflanges? Benefit of olive oil vs cocoa? Tea tree vs lavender? Optimum 'soak in' time? Is soak in real or physcological? :D :D :D :D
  5. I also think that the variables such be narrower since preferences change in different situations. Anyway, being able to poll twice kinda defeats the whole purpose.
  6. i.e. kena strangled by the cable. Scary. I always take off just before falling asleep.
  7. I like IEMs for portability and isolation, also for iems like the westone style look very 'stealth' compared to buds. But for SQ, I'll take full sized cans anytime, the bigger the driver the better. Hate buds, clip-ons usually hurt after sometime. Still, just ordered a pair of ksc75.
  8. But the fact that he's willing to go through the trouble and cost shows what a great guy he is. Lots of retailers will do or say anything to try to weasel out of the trouble, including excuses like have to send back yourself and all that.
  9. Dun like vol control, just gets in the way and drag the phones down when moving around. I think I'll stick with the koss since so popular.
  10. I do it the first way, but instead of pushing the ear cushions together and, holding them this way between the ‘heels’ of your hands, I turn the cans sideways so they slide past each other when I bend, forming an X. This way can bend more and no risk to the silver hinges also.
  11. Eww..lime green? I'm just interested in these since everyone was raving about them but since I already have a portable and a home can, I figured if I get these it'll mostly be for exercising. Can't really see them replacing my um1s.
  12. Eiii, someone help leh~
  13. Where do you guys get this headphone and for how much? I've just started to go gym and wondering if these will make a good work out can. Do they stay on well during jogging and all that? I don't wanna use my um1s cuz of the sweat and the k81djs are just too damn big. Edit: I wear glasses, will that affect the fit seeing they are clip-ons?

    AKG K81DJ

These respond well to eq. I eq down the bass and bring out the mids and highs a bit. It helps to open up the sound too.

    AKG K81DJ

Bass clears up after some time. I have the foams out too, can't stand it with them it. One thing I don't like about the sound is how closed in it is. I use the syncwrap on the cable cuz the smartwrap just too tiny. Looking to do a recable though...

    Silicon Gel

How will you know when the silica reach its limit and can't absorb anymore moisture?
  17. I must learn from u guys, taking good care of yr earphones, store in case, fold loosely, use silica gel and what not. I wrap my UM1 around my dap when bring out, always plugged in. Then just throw to one side when back home. The case I use to store extra complys n tips. I think my um1 hates me...
  18. Now that is some funny sh** right there. For some reason I'm just not too interested in the new ipods. Perhaps when apple releases a true big screen pmp...
  19. Thanks for the info! Now I have a better idea what an amp really does.

    New AKGs

Think I'm gonna get a pair of MS1 for my lighter music. The DJs are just too bass heavy for the likes of Morcheeba and Zero 7. First time I have to eq the bass down on any of my phones. Don't like the colours of the K518DJ. I think the stock silver looks nicer.
  21. Should be fine, there's a mesh inside. Anyway, quite a few people have done it. The pads are removable. Jahn on headfi replaced his with senn pads. Whether the stock pads are available for replacement I have no idea.
  22. Nice review. Glad to see the UM1 doesn't fare too badly against the others.
  23. Got the link for you. http://www.verzend.be/v/9970641/whitepink.mp3.html This one has a rather useful frequency sweep: http://www.rock-grotto.co.uk/Headphonebreakin.htm Try music with more bass and a dynamic range. The idea is to work your drivers as much as possible in every frequency. Oh, and if you have it, try some Mars Volta tracks. Some of their songs are enough to give any cans a full work out.
  24. Ya. I got one with 10secs white and pink loop.
  25. Never heard of brown noise. In here and headfi, I've only seen pink and white. Quite new to this too, but apparently AKGs need a fair amount of burn in. I think generally around 50 hrs for K81DJ (from headfi members). Thank god its not like the k701, which they say need 200-300hrs. By the way, the DJs have been re-coloured and re-badged as K518DJ. http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=196755 This is the thread where I got the software, some explanations there: http://www.sgheadphones.net/index.php?showtopic=5540&st=15
