  1. I have 2 of the 3 listed. Personally, if you can afford it, the HD600 is better in most aspect except for sound stage which is something the Beyers excel in. If you look around the forum I have a review of HD600 and the comparison i done with is against a DT880. Anyway best is just auditioning them lol. Every brand pretty much have their own speciality. Because of that I own 4 different brands of headphones to enjoy them all =3.
  2. For me I think the DT880 is probably the best choice from the list. Else likw what most recommanded, a HD600 isnt too bad. Actually Grados have decent bass too. Not the deep strong type but you may appreciate it. Best is you can go down to a shop to actually test out.
  3. Mmm actually I tried the MS Pro not so long ago and owned a MS2i. Dont really feel that they are really bright. Maybe its just me but its just nice for my listening. Only thing is Im not exactly use to the sound of grado now since i been using AKG for sometime. Flat padding(the one you find in ms1) for grado do reduce the brightness if you find it too bright.
  4. My Favorite Gear is running through my Speakers nEar06 lol. Actually I still prefer the K701 in the end. Personal preference.
  5. After the repair the sound is still good though which is what that is important^^ What i fear is only it snaps the third time. warranty ending really soon for my set
  6. K701 had a dead left side. According to technician is the wire broke due to the way i took off my headphones. I use 1 hand to remove my headphones and this resulted to wire breaking off from the driver. Kind aweird such a problem happens on such a expensive headphone twice -.-
  7. Some update after few hundred hours of burn in and the return of my AKG K701. Theres certainly noticeable improvement in terms of soundstage and decay. Music sound smoother now me now with improvement of soundstage towards DT880 type: wide but still in the music. When compared with with the K701, I noticed due to my setup probably, the K701 is actually warmer then the HD600. Also the biggest difference I notice was how vocals are placed. HD600 give the in the music with instruments and singer all together. K701 on the other hand enhances the vocals while making the the instruments fill the background. To put it visually,HD600 is like viewing a concert from the front while K701 brings the singer upfront to you with the band behind. Was hearing some songs in the Blues genra and k701 simply blows the HD600 away withs its enhanced vocals and all round background music. But now we switch to rock/pop music by My Chemical Romance, the HD600 with its more impactful base and more all together infront type of presentation of music, makes the music sound alot more powerful compared to K701 and really brings in the mood of the song. That said, with 3 headphones of the same price range, which is better with burn in and all. I feel that each of them serves different purpose. DT880 is more for music demanding the airy soundstage as it really has the widest of the 3. K701 is for those with vocals as the center piece and music as a background. HD600 simply shines in anything that needs bass and a band like type of presentation. For now im enjoying my chemical romance: The Black Parade album ^^ After testing some other songs, the K701 is truly more detailed and really lack alot more bass compared HD600 side by side
  8. Well I will say if you are used to using good headphones, no headphones on first try will impress you. In the past when I was still using cheap headphones and ibud style earpiece, there was really a difference by just hearing a UM1 (my first IEM) and when I tried on MS1(my first good headphone) it was really like a new era of sound for me. When I switch from MS1 to Ath-A900, it was like whao headphones really do sound different. Before that I thought they will sound different but to the extend of actually noticeable and able to actually pin point them is really something I didnt expect. I took the next leap into UM2, Triple.Fi and MS2i which really made the grade jump. After that I start to notice that actually all this headphones are so good that to actually say which is better is purely base on preference. Eventually I settled for a ER4S and AKG701 due to the fact their soundstage is all encompasing and that ER4S really cant be beaten in terms of accuracy and soundstage for its price range. (I lost my triple.fi and thats 500 down the drain. After that never had the will to rebuy it) Putting it into perspective I guess that maybe for me I can feel the difference and apreciate the headphones due to the fact I didnt start of with the best. That saying, burn in to me just makes the headphone better sometime. After trying so many headphones and IEM, I will say burn in only affects some brands of headphones and has almost no effect on IEM lol. AKG701 had a change when I burnin while a A900 really cant make me feel much of a difference. Grados when burnt in felt less bright but on overall they arent that affected by the burnt in effect (for the ms1,ms2i,sr125 that I owned before) Maybe the RS series will be affected but till then lol. In the end of the day, I guess if you think theres a difference and the difference is good, thats the best possible outcome for the money you spend . Equipment wise thats another story lol.
  9. Cause it will be deemed "used" by some. Also it does show that the product is brand new if burning has some effect psychologically lol. Other then that personally I feel is time contrain. To burn in a headphone example akg701, its said to take a really long time, over few hundred hrs or smth lol.
  10. the hd600 was burnt in only 48 hrs. Maybe Ill try again after 100+. Personally I felt DT880 had the widest soundstage planar wise (DT880 gives a wide from front and back type of soundstage)for a headphone below 1k and akg701 had the widest all round soundstage and probably one of the better decay effect. Tried AT before but somehow the sound doesnt fit my taste. Maybe should try their AD2k again to reconfirm next time. Didnt have a chance to compare against a HD650 so wont reallly comment much about it lol.

    HD600

Just purchased a new HD600 from stereo. Priced pretty competitively for a headphone of its class, needed one to replace my failing akg701 which im sending in for repair. As my only headphone left working was my DT880 03 edition, did a minor comparison with them. HD600 has a smaller soundstage compared to the DT880. The DT880 when used with music thats best listen with the additional soundstage effect feels so much bigger compared to when used with HD600. HD600 gives a more in the music/song type of effect when compared side by side. HD600 also seem to resolve details much better then the DT880. Minor details tend to stand out more and if the music is badly compressed, HD600 is very unforgiving similar to the akg701 while the DT880 tend to let it pass much more easily. I did notice the DT880 has a slight veil on its music when compared to the HD600. Vocal and base is something I feel that the HD600 does better then the DT880. Bass had this punch that is much better then the DT880 and also better then the akg701 in my memories. Vocal wise HD600 makes them more upfront then the DT880 without sounding out of place. Decay of sound wise, DT880 and even the AKG701 does a better job then the HD600. Just felt that somehow HD600 is lacking somewhat in this department and as such some of the music I loved on my AKG701 and DT880 didnt sound right. The notes that are suppose to fade slower away sounds much faster resulting a much more "Rough" sound. Im not really sure how to describe it but there is certainly something bugging me here but I cant put it into words. All in all, HD600 is definitely a headphones in a class of its own. Its very different from the other open cans out there and when compared to its bigger bro the HD650, its slightly different but no where inferior. At 3/4 the price(449) when compared with the AKG and HD650, its producing a level of sound that can par most headphones of this level with its own unqiuness. This article is base on a comparison as such does not pinpoints at the headphones characteristics alone. Headphones of this class are usually of very high grade and resolves sound much better then most market brands. As such if one was to upgrade from a entry level to this, the quality will definitely be much better no matter its being compared lol. DT880 is a very good headphone from Beyer and probably one of the most worth for money. AKG701 on the other hand is very demanding headphone but if condition are right, its downright fantastic. however I wonder if mine was a serious bad apple, breaking down in 6month and 2 months after the first repair =/ Very big thanks to Stereo for letting me take my time to audition the headphones. Tested a RS2 from grado and that really didnt fit my taste somehow.
  12. Been sometime since I posted in SGHeadphones. Finally ending my service in NS soon and as such had more time. Picked up photography a few months back and now I have tons of expensive hobby to drain my puny allowance lol. Anyway started collecting figurines and its part of my photography hobby lol. Some pictures of stuff I collected And now to take my K701 done for repair again. The headphone broke down for the second time and the first time ASI repair was terrible >.<

  20. http://www.sgheadphones.net/index.php?show...c=7526&hl=storm A review by the previous owner. The amp is still up for sales. Price Reduced to 190. Negotiatable but dont undercut me -.-. Im not desperate just want pass it to someone who uses it more then me.
  21. battery abt 20 hrs. Driving a dt 880 250ohm. Retail price im not sure but demonic angel told me is abt 260
  22. Item still up for sale. There has been some enquiry on the amp. The amp only comes with a adapter but if u need interconnect i can throw in one. I do not have the physical reciept but can help u request a softcopy one if u intend to buy it. I dont like low balling the price. If you intend to offer me at way lower then the price I stated please prepare to be rejected Also dont SMS me unless u really have intention to buy. Im quite pissed that there has been many SMS which directly gimme price offer but half way through tell me no intention. Theres even case where people cancel at last minute. I dont mind providing information but with the constant sudden cancel this is getting irritating. Last but not least, the condition of the amp is exactly the same as I bought from another forumer. The storm b4 is a decent amp but I am releasing it not to fund anything but just because I no longer have interest in portable amps.
  23. Will say each person take on equipement will be different. I will say the biggest issue is that audio is not something u can gauge with a linear chart. As equipement gets better, not every one can tell the difference. Infact I will say unless its side by side comparison, most people cant tell why is a $1000 worth its price. A good example i will give is a friend of mine who never used any decent equipement. So one day I brought him to my house. On first try he cant tell why is my system worth the price. Its only when I lend him a headphone of much lower quality can he tell the difference. In the end, its really how u percieve and your personal taste the governs if its worth or not. Without a side by side comparision and really careful listening, you may never be able to tell if a $1000 equipement is decently better then a $100 one. And since quality does not improve linearly, it will reach a stage of personal preference instead of percieved quality. Anyway I did bought a pair of argento silver cable. The cable blew me away on first try with no comparison lol. Of course the ex cable i used was just the generic type so its really cannot be compared in the first place.
  24. Well for me i use a cheap headphone amp as a preamp since the power amp is alrdy built into the speaker. Then i control volume from the preamp
