I don't think ANY IEM can match the ESW9 in terms of bass and soundstage. The bass on the ESW9 is served in spades, having a wood cup and all.

I think you can find good bargains for Audio Technica Cans there.

For your requirements.. I think the best match right now would be KenWood's new line of HDD-based players. That being said, the headphone out has an awful amount of hiss when paired with sensitive IEMs like the triple.fi 10pro. But sounds really good with IEMs or cans with higher impedance.

Has anyone here heard both the PICO and i-Qube? I'll be receiving my PICO next week and wonder how it compares to the i-Qube.. Causeway Point is really really far from my place, so i'm pretty reluctant to make a trip down to do a comparison =x

There is absolutely no difference in either option. Are you using EAC to rip the audio CD? I believe that FLAC isnt much point if you aren't ripping the CD in its entirety.
