    Vinyl camp

heh,heh...about time... But this thread is only for vinyl as in LPs or the rig and everything related to the TT setup as well?
  2. JA Michell has one especially for Rega TT with its very short spindle.
  3. Yes...JA Michell...very light clamp...good for the Denon TT since it can't take too much weight like a direct drive.
  4. A big improvement over the in-built phono stage of the TT. The cart is a Denon DL-160; got it at reasonable price from ebay.
  5. A few budget tweak and upgrades...
  6. It is a double LP album...was surprised with the great recording for a live performance...back in the 70's. The "McArthur's Park Suite" that takes up the whole of Side 4 is really good. And her moaning in "Love to Love You Baby"...is....
  7. A few LPs from the Jalan Besar flea market...ok condition after cleaning them up..all between $3-$4 each...
  8. Saw this at Roxy just now...a 180g vinyl...and couldn't resist I have a CD of this album since the early 1990...a popular album with the audiophiles in HK.
  9. Great album! And this too... Must dig them out from my collection when I go back for CNY!
  10. You finally found time to install it Now you can buy more CDs to rip and download to your ipod...wonder how many CDs your new disk can contain...
  11. The cartridge looks like an AT95... Hey, Nofing, did you get the TT from the seller in extremeplace?
  12. From Music Direct: "MIKE OLDFIELD - TUBULAR BELLS (200g LP) A quintessential ‘studio production’ in pop music lore, Mike Oldfield conceived an eclectic mix of both standard and odd instruments, along with classical and rock elements, to achieve a steadily building, layered texture, totally unheard of at the time. After being shopped and rejected at other labels, Richard Branson chose it as the first release for his Virgin Records in 1972. Originally tagged with the working title Opus 1, Mike Oldfield, who had been playing and recording professional since his teens, oversaw the entire production and played most of the parts himself, eventually layering over thirty different instruments and sounds. Listeners had fun trying to identify each and remember the order they appeared, as the late Vivian Stanshall (Bonzo Dog Band) ceremoniously announced each as it joined the mix. The original LP eventually sold over 16 million copies and topped the UK charts for weeks. The eerie opening section was famously featured in the soundtrack to the motion-picture The Exorcist, winning the Grammy in 1974 for Best Instrumental Composition. The original master tapes were used to cut both the original issue and this reissue making the original issue hard to best. With Chris Bellman doing the mastering honors using Classic’s “all tube” cutting system and being pressed on Classic’s proprietary Super Vinyl Profile sheds new light on, and a slight nod to the Classic reissue of, this longstanding audiophile favorite. 13. The CD is fantastic, so bought the vinyl LP for $28, a reasaonable price...but somehow the LP does not sound that great...not bad, but not what I expected.
  14. Did not buy that many-lah, guys...just a few of my favourites that I can find... Queen's "News of the World" and "Night at the Opera" Dire Strait's "Brothers in Arms" Nirvana's "NeverMind" (the reissued 180gram colored vinyl, a must buy for Rock fans...it sounds fantastic!) Radiohead's "Computer OK" REM's "Automatic for the people"
  15. Hey...I like bluetac...very useful... Anyway...using the TAOC TITE-25F insulator. Decided to sacrifice comp table for the TT...
  16. Need a bigger pay cheque as welll...ha, ha. Just got back from my uncle friend...this old sifu who has been in hifi since the 70's... Learned how to accurately adjust the anti-skate on the TT from him...he came up with this method himself by using an old LD...since the LD has a smooth surface, the arm should not move when you rest the stylus on the LD...if it starts skating, it means the anti-skate is not adjusted properly. Try it on various spots on the LD, the outer, middle and the inner circle.
  17. Update on my rig... Not an ideal place for the TT...but due to space constraints, will do for now...seems to work...
  18. ehh...welcome back, JOJO... Have not seen you for awhile here...
  19. heh, heh...actually started with vinyl when I was young...my first vinyl was a birthday gift when I was 10. My dad has a big collection of vinyl records as well. But later progressed to cassettes, then CDs due to their convenience. So now, has come a full circle...back to the old vinyl. "Blondie" has been busy...so have yet to see him for a while...maybe he is hiding from us.
