This might have been mentioned before but not in a specific thread.I particularly like the midrange & soundstage of the K501. Stock HD600 is fairly good but IMO is beaten in the midrange & soundstage without the upgrade cable. ATH-W100 sounds similar with stronger bass but soundstage is slightly less & the sound is also slightly 'thicker'. Is it possible to have the sound of the K501 with slightly more bass (I don't want to lose the resolution). On it's own it sounds great but slightly more bass would make it fantastic.
Hi N@Z,
How "bad" is the lack of bass compared to say, a HD600?

Thanks adhoc/blues.
$250 seem like a good price, can probably stretch a bit. No issue with 2nd hand for other items like amps, etc, but headphone wise, probably have the previous user's sweat, etc on it.
I tried a HD600, loved it, but it's way out of budget.

without a shadow of doubt - the akg501.it's considered by many to be the ultimate classical phone.
there's one (Northern Oak's) in the classifieds for sale for IIRC $140.
Thanks, but prefer to buy new for something like headphones, how much would that cost? In the same range as a HD600?

Hi,
Looking for a pair of headphones. Budget $200 +/-. Currently looking at Sennheiser HD570 and AKG 141. Any other recommendations in the same price range?
I listen to 95% classical. Will be plugging it to a Rotel RCD-02 via a headphone amp I'll be building.
Thanks in advance for any info.

Where to get "Audio Grade" electronic components?

Hi,
Which shop sells the audio grade components for building stuff like amps, etc? The generic ones are easy enough. Or do everyone order online from the likes of RS Components (Singapore), Farnell, etc ?
Thanks in advance.
