  1. Yeah, how much would it cost tenson? Nah, it's cool mackie, I know d*ck on the subject, I just need something to play a couple of records I have. So totally not fussy at all.
  2. As above, I'm planning to get one asap. What's the cheapest one I can get? What would the output be like? Can I connect it directly to a headphone? Or do I have to connect to a hifi or amplifier first? If that's the case, what's the cheapest amplifier for a headphone for this usage be then? How about tape decks? How much do they cost as well? The cheapest ones. I'm getting a sennheiser HD500 as well so I'm on a shoe string budget. I'm still a newbie so I'm not gonna invest in it fully yet. So what are the budget and cheapest turn tables out there? Thanks a mill for any help.
  3. Lol, I can even get 100 posts I'm happy already.
  4. Woah!!! Greenwheel and saliva are on the ost! cool, must get then.
  5. Definetly one of my fav bands is bachelor girl. Anyone listens to them? Their first album was AWESOME, their follow-up was really really good too. second album :
  6. Haha, thanks, but I'm pretty sure most would not really like me there since I'm against music piracy. Haha, that was obvious enough in my thread.
  7. Meet bro? I'm sorry, but could someone enlighten more on this? I've yet to really browse through the forums, been really busy.
  8. You guys just HAVE to get dishwalla's opaline cd!!! They are selling it at hmv for $40 but it's totally worth it. Hell, even for it's price it's a hot seller. All 99 people who reviewed the cd at amazon gave it excellect scores and good feedback, you don't have to take my word for it, you can go check it out and you'll find it's very true. I love every track in the cd, plus it's in HDCD format and it's US pressed so it sounds great!!! Also another cd which I found sounding really good and had nice songs is disney's refresh album. I was impressed by the recording, maybe you've guys heard much much better cds, but to me, I found it great.
  9. Like I said before, it hardly matters does it? I could always go to a shop to sample the songs. Or for that matter going to official websites to get the songs. In the end I'll still sample the song so why bother with which method I use? In all of the above methods I still get to sample the song. My intentions were not that to rip off anyone's hard work. Unlike the many others that do. I'm condemning those whose intentions were to save money. My focus all along is on a person's intentions besides like I've said before I've stopped downloading from p2p software already. Also I'm far from being rich and yet I do not support piracy. Just because one is poor it doesn't give that person an excuse to commit a crime. If that's the case, nothing will happen to those poor people who get caught for stealing.
  10. What's a cd3k? What I meant by the edge is at the 90 degree angle at the back part of the top of your head. I hope that makes sense.
  11. I do not steal, at the very most I sampled. No different from me going to a cd shop and checking the cd out. Also if that's the case, sampling through an official website would be wrong too. I do not download any song which I've heard before, just those that I've no idea about and has been recommended to me by my friends.
  12. For me I place it near the edge of my head. I find it more comfortable that way and it feels like the headphones are less heavy. I'm using the philips HP890.
  13. Yeah me too. Everything's loading sooooooo s-l-o-w-l-y.
  14. Hmmm it seems I have, well, I retract my previous statement, I should have said rarely instead. I've stopped sampling entirely as it is. Hey I didn't call you a cheapskate, I was referring to people in general, if you do steal music well then, that's too bad. Is it wrong to not believe in piracy? Why does one get mocked for not believeing in it? Why would I need to do some soul searching? I'm not the one ripping off people's hardwork or stealing it for that matter. Doesn't really make sense does it? To do soul searching when I'm doing the right thing.
  15. Actually for sampling purposes I go to official webbies, other than that....hmm...can't think of anything else close to piracy... You've to realise, not everyone believes in piracy or is a cheapskate. As I've said before, just because one is poor doesn't give the person the right to steal. Anyways apology accepted.
  16. If every business has a lifespan no matter what, why would people bother to open shops if it's going to fail in the end? If what you say is true, how come the cd shops are all closing down at around the same time?
  17. If that's the case why don't poor people just steal whatever they want. You make it seem that by being poor you have the right to steal. Just because you're poor doesn't mean you're above the law. I believe if you wanted your cds why not get a part time job? I'm doing that just so that I have money for my other expenses.
  18. If it's not a viable business anymore, why would they want to continue? Regardless whether they cover or do not cover their losess. The cost for producing a cd in singapore is $10, but in other countries it should be different since the materials used to manufacture the discs in singapore is really lousy. Plus, they aren't selling cds at a full price of $30, else how do shops survive?
  19. It's not been THAT a long time. It is only taking effect seriously because it's getting out of hand. A study was done by an independent research team that with the ever increasing number of people downloading music for free the music industry would collapse in 6-7 years time. Unfornately that was taken from the newspapers and I don't have a scanner. But if I do get the chance to have it scanned I'll post it up here. Will never collapse dude? The cost to produce and release a cd costs at least $10. If less and less people are buying cds, how are they gonna survive? Eventually it will collapse. I mean look at the state of the music industry in singapore, it's bad. A significant number of cd shops have closed down and the rest are trying to survive. If they can cover their losses they wouldn't be closing down or trying to survive.
  20. The music industry collapses, where are we gonna get our music? The radio would collapse and so would mtv. If it does collapse, the economy wouldn't be in a really good shape as well. Plus what if they take drastic measures to control music piracy to the point where it might even alienate those that do not steal music.
  21. Well I've been collecting since..hmm...for cds that is, for about 7 years. Whew, luckly my collection isin't that bad....I thought it was, I've about 200 cds or slightly more. It's constantly growing too. hehe. Do you guys catalogue your cds and how are they arranged? For me, the new ones and the ones I frequently listen to, are at the top of the pile. They aren't arranged in any alphabetical or genre order.
  22. Dude, in the long run the consumer is gonna suffer as well. Think about it.
  23. Sorry if this topic has been posted before but I'm just curious. I don't think I'd ever want to post how many I have though. Haha. Mine's probably really really pathetic compared to most if not all of you guys. I'm just a student and even with my part time pay I can't afford as many cds as I would like. So what about you guys?
  24. Opps, sorry mackie, didn't notice which forum I was in before I clicked the post topic button. My bad, thanks anyway. $26? Err what kind of cds do you listen to? For me I usually get my cds from $14.90 to $18.90. But recently I've been starting to listen to less than popular bands, as such most of the cds cost $27 to about $40. Which I think still isin't that bad. Actually I wanted to see if anyone downloaded not for the sole purpose of sampling. Like downloading it because he/she heard the song from somewhere, found it nice, downloaded it and didn't buy bother to buy the cd or single at all. Just enjoying the song that he/she stole. I'm totally against that. Once I saw a girl taking out a huge cd wallet to listen to another cd. Every single cd in that wallet was burnt. Some were entire albums. Her friend next to her asked, how come she doesn't have any original cds, she said she doesn't have any money. The ironical thing is? She was holding a cup of coffee from coffee bean that I'm very sure costs at least $6++. If one was able to afford luxuries like coffee the person could definetly afford to buy a cd, but typical of (most unfornately) singaporeans, the why buy when you can get free in another words cheapskate to the point where law doesn't matter prevails. Errr, sorry for being so passionate, hope I didn't offend anyone(at least those who don't steal music that is) hehe.
  25. Of course what I meant by that is that if you download without paying and not getting the song from a legal source. I don't at all. Maybe I might download now and then to sample songs, even then it's from official webbys and if last resort, p2p but I'll delete after a couple of tries. I think it's totally wrong and definetly(I think) the reason why the music industry in singapore is suffering. So many shops have closed down, sigh. It's gotten to the point where if you support original stuff you get ridiculed. It really pisses me off how cheapskate some people can be. To think that cd prices in singapore are probably the cheapest in the world.
