  1. Anyways if it does come down to the 590's and the 890's? Definetly get the 890's. You could even audition the headphones at hung bros. I've tried some of the lower end beyer headphonds (price range was about $130-$190) and I still prefered the 890 in terms of sound and comfort. Seriously end of the day, one might tell you something's better than the other, but when it all comes down to it, it's up to you. I mean to you something might sound great even though it's been given terrible reviews.
  2. I've tried the 570's and the 590's. Honestly in terms of comfort and sound I prefered the philips HP890. The one I'm using now. Totally comfortable and in my opinion sounds better than the 590. (If I were biased, I'd have chosen the 590 because of the design but if it comes down to sound quality, 890) Plus it's only $80++ and has it's own stand.
  3. Hey lekguan, you know I just bought those new philips headphones right? For some reason quite a number of my cds when played on it have that sound when you push your speakers to the max. The thing is, I'm pretty sure when I replay it on my other headphone and speakers I'm pretty sure that sound is there as well. Is this what they call clipping? Anyways could it be that my philips headphones are already damaged? I hope not. Or does the problem lies with the recordings as mentioned above?
  4. Wouldn't spending alot of money to listen to mp3s be kinda of an overkill? From what I know mp3 quality is so much lower and from what I've read, getting a high end headphone would only emphasize how terrible it sounds. So are there any headphones that are really meant for mp3s?
  5. Hey, hope you don't mind xsys cause I wanna know more about amps for headphones. The cheaper the better too. haha. Just bought my own pair of cans, so happy with it.
  6. Thanks blues! Oh by the way I forgot to mention. My cd deck, a 2nd hand sony deck, doesn't allow me to push my headphones. Just wondering how much would it cost to repair the loose buttons? Cause I've to press the buttons extra harder for them to work. Also since I can't use the cd deck for the source of my headphones (because of the sound clipping when pushed)(my hifi's are out of the question since I wouldn't want to be plugging the headphones in and out, it'll damage my stuff) the only way for me to solve the problem is to get a headphone amp right? What's the cheapest one I can get and at the same time not sacrificing on sound quality? Thanks!
  7. THANKS A MILL GUYS! Have bought my headphones already. After trying out a couple of models. Mainly sennheiser, 500, 570, a couple of the beyer and akg and finally the hp890. Since comfort was an issue, that left me with the 500, 570 and 890. I was relecuctant to even try the 890(namely because it was from philips and cheap), but after putting them on I totally changed my mind and they have yet to be broken in. It was really comfortable. In my opinion they were much better than the 500 and 570. The 500's sound seemed kinda "closed in". The 570's were too bright. Was totally blown over when I first tried the hp890. I didn't even have to console myself by telling myself that this headphones really are good, cause they are. Just perfect for my needs. Plus the stand? It can't get any better than this. And at a superb price. $99. I know it can be bought at better prices elsewhere but the saleslady there was very helpful and patient, so I figured might as well. Though I didn't get a reciept for the purchase....hmmm...And because I managed to save $120 (since I originally planned to get the 570s) I managed to buy the cds I've been meaning too! YAY! haha. Bought a tribute to the beast vol 2 david foster the best of me dishwalla opaline all4one on and on joe satriani the beautiful guitar SAT 1 nickelback silver side up
  8. Just saw the philips HP 890. Should I consider that as well? Is it on par with the sennheisers I mentioned and how about comfort? Thanks. Really sorry for asking so many questions by the way.
  9. Where can I try those headphones out? What about comfort? Can I use if for hours on end like the sennheisers? How much is it exactly?
  10. Yeah, I think I should. But of course if isin't comfortable I ain't gettin in. hehe.
  11. Woohoo!!! If you like EC's Fender Strat to sound fat, tubey & warm toned choose the one that sounds the warmest & best midrange. Dishwalla should sound great too as they are a guitar based rock band am I correct? I only have one song from them & it's a cover of one of Depeche Mode's song The Policy of Truth (ala heavy metal stylee!). I see. Well for edwin mccain, I love his messenger album. As for dishwalla, they aren't really guitar based. But I do so love their music, it's great. Can't wait to get my headphones, but I'm not looking forward to the emptiness of my wallet for days, maybe even weeks, to come. HAHA.
  12. Honestly is anyone free tomorrow to help me decide which is better? Cause sometimes even I can't decide.....I'm kinda fickle too and I don't want to be regretting my desicion later on. At least if I have a second opinion of an expert I'd know I'd have pic k the right model.
  13. Guys, will be getting my headphones tomorrow. Wanted to go today but too busy. Anyways I've narrowed it down to HD500 and HD570 since they are still in my budget and are the ones I've tried out so far that's comfortable enough. Comfort is very important to me since I listen to music for hours on end. But I just want to know, which one is better at playing music like edwin mccain or eric clapton? Or classical music for that matter? Or would the the HD500's suffice which allow me to purchase the lastest dishwalla cd since I'll be saving quite a sum? haha. Thanks guys.
  14. May I know their operating times? Thanks. Thanks for the link blues!
  15. Woah, I'm new to all this and all this is quite an overkill. Could someone post pics as well? I'm kinda fussy about design as well. Sorry about that. Thanks.
  16. Not favourably reviewed in what way? Anyways I'd rather have new headphones and not second hand. Where can I go to audition headphones?
  17. Haha, I know what preference is. Well, for me I'm very open. Somtimes classical, pop-rock, rock, metal, jazz, dance, ballads, funk. But I think I'm leaning towards softer music? Cause I'll be using them mainly at night to relax and all that. So it'd be great if I the pair of headphones could really perform well in the instrumental department. I don't know, maybe something like the braveheart ost, eric clapton's best of, a couple of nsync ballads, edwin mccain's songs? What's sound isolation? Sorry for asking so many questions, but I'm totally new to these stuff.
  18. Yeah, after weighing the cons of wireless headphones, (mainly the batt life) decided to get a corded one instead. What do you guys think of this one? Or is there a cheaper alternative? I'm not really fussy and just a casual user, so...... Considering this one: http://www.sennheiser.com/sennheise...4484?Open&row=7 model is HD500. Cost $189. I'd rather get headphones along the lines of $100, but if I were to splurge would this be a good pair of headphones? (I know my budget is really low, so hope you guys don't laugh at it, like I said, I'm just a casual user but still want decent enough sound)
  19. What's the best budget wireless heaphone I should get? I'm on a very tight budget. I prefer those headphones sets with stands for me to place the headphones. Something like what sennhieser has. Thanks for any help given!
