  1. I'm sure our friend there, is catching every detail he has missed in his entire listening career, tracks that he had listened to countless times and never knowing those details and textures were ever there, it is due to the quickness of the DT48 drivers that lets you hear them, best dynamic headphones in the world imho. Am listening to mine right now through MD10, LD MK4SE, 120Ω adapter, DT48A, sweet... Beyer DT48, 1937 to .......... 76 years and counting
  2. Yes the round rubber pads are very efficient at channeling the sound, just uncomfortable for long use, it burns at the pinnae, i used to go for long sessions with my DT48A with the original round pads, the soft oval pads are better imho, they are plush maybe too plush, lol. I have 3 types of pads, all except the round cushion pad which i cannot find. They are indeed left/right polarized, that is also why it sounds and image the best, as i listen to my reference speakers near field, that is 1.5 metres apart and I'm sitting 1/2 a metre between them. Exactly the same effect and sound wise similar to reference monitors.
  3. Over time they will get nearer, after only an hour of having them on, they stick close like suction cups. If you're talking about the sound of your old DT48, you will need to get a vintage E 25Ω, they sound much upfront than the A and the S and the new E.
  4. We have a new DT48 fanboy, lol. The pads can be made pushed out for more room by coiling plastic twine on the undersides.
  5. That is very kind of Dale as usual, if ever you want to get rid of it, you know who to look for I have the Kudelski S 25Ω Nagra, S 25Ω Nagra, S 5Ω Nagra, E 25Ω x 2 (one with coiled and the other Y cable) and of course the A 5Ω Audiometric.
  6. Have you bought one? I currently have 6 I just saw Dales gears list, seems to be missing something there
  7. Obviously that guy had a bad source too,, underwater phew. Doesn't know what he is talking about, lol.
  8. Here's a pic of me trying them on. Shure foams? You could probably do better by reducing the distance on the pads.
  9. No sibilants detected, the midrange was seemingly uncolored and to some may be dull, but i would say it was just right and natural. The bass was detailed and not emphasized as well, no bass humps just good bass, highs were well extended not shrilly but bright. Overall it beats the HD6xx and most headphones in that range.
  10. Yes, coming from Dale and myself, the DT48A are for only for serious listeners, lol. You will be getting rid of all that thrashy sounding recordings once you have vetted them with these babies.
  11. Are you wiling to pay that type of money in the first place? I've heard that driven from the BCL amp. Well it still isn't better than the DT48A with the O2 amp, seriously. The cost of the latter is at most half of just the HD800 ampless.
  12. Yes I do agree with that statement, it is just strange that he had to mention that.
  13. Haha cool down, I was referring to those 2 headphones having a showdown, generally for the same market. I'm sure someone will put that comparison up soon.
  14. Probably the 8db would come out more obvious if you do it in a very quiet area and if you're using the Tone Generator. So a HD700 vs 1840 showdown should be on its way...
  15. It's dark but not that dark, can we call it grey? Yeah the prices are quite a lowdown these days. Haha nice explanation for Neutral, but most won't know even a 8db difference.
  16. Mike of Headfonia, wrote that the HD700 can run directly from his iPod. According to him, betters even the stats. Interesting....... HD700
  17. Did I say that? you have heard my headphones, that is neutral. you have heard my speakers, sub bass is felt not heard. Midrange is always more pronounced as compared to the accompaniment, unless that is the lead, which falls under the midrange. Remember Fletcher Munson, our hearing is non linear, so you can't perceive equal loudness on the Frequency range at normal listening levels.
  18. Neutral is how you hear it from actual performance, most Hifi speakers are neutral, just the imaging issue, which of the most part weighs on placement and room acoustics. It is definitely defined. Just that you need to pay more attention.
  19. I think the proper word to use is audiophile or purist, many and I mean many think that emphasized headphones are inline with being audiophile. That is also why very accurate headphones have been so often deemed no bass or with recessed bass, when in fact if they spend more time listening to actual rather than compare between headphones, they would quite easily distinguish between headphones and which gives a more accurate representation.
  20. Don't have to be offended, as I find that it is good to have critics on each headphone or gear, as I have heard the LCD2 and LCD3, was not too impressed. One main reason for it was because it don't sound neutral, so why enthuse over a headphone of that price, when you can have a cheaper option and similarly colored. Everyone has their views here, this here is not a praise thread or site, only fanboys get so excited and hurt by criticism.
  21. Probably some grounding issues, open that thing up and see where the buzz is coming from
  22. Has my order been confirmed?
  23. Bro JMWrecks, is my order confirmed? It could be the headphones, which headphones are you using with the high gain? anyway try to burn in on high.
  24. It does, but I like the DT48A better with the Meier Arietta.
