The soundstage will open up, bass and mids will tighten after several hours of play/run-in. In most cases, a unburned-in can will sound sharp and muffled. Of course, never stop running/play in your cans.

Haha! I think you got no choice. However, there are some brands that carries extra E string in their pack. I can't remember which brand carries it. The acoustic guitar sounds best when the strings are fresh.
