ablaze 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2003 bought one of these (*gasp*) Malaysian-made power supplies from SLT just now. 24v DC-regulated 1A max. brand: Teletron http://www.teletron.com.my/Products_Power_Supply.htm (TC-2401PQ) it says "regulated" on the adapter itself, but how do I tell if its linear or switching? its quite big and heavy, at least bigger than the usual voltage-switchable, Newstar adapters commonly found ps. unloaded, it tests at 24.8v using a multimeter

jtfoo 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2003 The IC that is attached to the huge heat sink, what's the printing on it? It could a regulator.
ablaze 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2003 ok, lets just assume its regulated. my question is, can you tell if its switching or non-switching?
jtfoo 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2003 Non switching.. There's appeared to be a rectifies diodes, one big black power cap, suspected regulator IC, and small purple filtering cap after the regulator.. Pretty basic regulated power supply.
ablaze 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2003 non-switching = linear? so essentially its a 24v linear regulated DC psu?
jtfoo 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2003 Yup, it 's likely a linear DC PSU.
