Which headphone for a newb?

One day I'll buy the UE11! To be honest though I don't think I would be able to hear any difference. My hearing is just not that good. And since mostly I'm listening to mp3 files on my iPod it hardly matters!

There's a lot of hiss in my Westone 2. In some songs it is more pronounced

 

All my songs are above 200kbps mp3 format.

 

Any thoughts/suggestions? Thanks!

No, I don't have an amp for my iPod...sorry! What would you recommend? And what does a portable (I assume) amp actually do?

hi there, tag on to this thread, i'm a new noob in this area, looking for some good upgrade of iem.

 

budget sgd$300 or so?

 

ipod nano 4th gen

skull candy titans

trance techno pop rock

 

needs;

hardy

good bass

clear

 

tried um2 quite like it,

tried something from denon too peircing for me,

tried ue s5, feels ok, fit not very good, but could be me.

 

i like my titans for how much i paid for them, to get this kind of sound quality i think it's quite worth it.

 

 

always wanted to venture into this area. please help me out!

I just bought the Asus Xonar Essence STX. It isn't a USB amp it is a dedicated sound card. WOW! This thing is absolutely incredible!

i looked upon different sites and the reviews are quite good. so i was hoping to get some more opinions here before purchasing it.

do not judge based on looks. I havent heard of these cans, so i cant really give u a good opinion. However most ppl say that though the sound quality is good, it may be a little overpriced. But to me, if the quality is good enough for you and you think its worth it, buy it, afterall your friend has it, borrow it for a listen

and i love it. well. obviously especially after i bought it. hahaha.

 

the sound quality is really good and it's very comfortable.

Just out of curiousity..... did you audition other brands before buying the Monster.

yup i did. did some research on other brands before purchasing in.

 

in the end i went with some logic that my friend taught me. first choice is always the best choice. hahaha.

 

maybe it was a silly instinct but so far i'm quite happy with my solo headphones.
