There is another method though. Use the LM334's adjustable-constant current diodes with zener diodes to set the voltage drop.

This allows you to easily adjust the current drawn to be identical on both channels to 1mA to 2 mA whereas the zeners offer very close matching for voltage drop straight from the package.

You can get MAT02 & MAT03 monolithtic dual-fets from Analog Devices Sampling program as replacements for the 2SK389 & 2SJ109 fets.

These are direct altenative replacements?

MAT02 is Matched Dual Monolithic Transistor

The best replacemnet is a pair of matched 2SK170 for 2SK389, and 2SJ/74 for 109.

shall i use match pairs for the second and/or thrid stage?

i have made 1 gilmore experiment board. it's a normal board full with turn pins, can swap components easily.

i really appreciate your help.

the sad thing is my board is still empty...sigh....
