Can damage your drivers as the voltage flux - ask firefox - he told me not to do it - something about an amp can output vdc when it's unstable (or the op amp is unstable). Anyways it made sense in another way - the amp goes into clipping as the battery dies. And clipping is very very bad for drivers.

Actually, that's for the Grado RA-1's. If one side drops too much, the opamp could output DC into the cans, effectively frying the drivers.

Hmm...okay. What about clipping? Wouldn't an amp go into clipping as the voltage drops below a certain point (depending on the amp of course) at a given volume level.

Distortion, yes. I'm not too sure about clipping but it might do so.
