Mackie 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2004 (edited) cmk is right. I used to own HD600 but switched to DT880 after 15 mins of audition. YMMV. Between DT990 and HD600, I've not done a direct comparison. However, HD600 requires a cable change such as Clou Red, Equinox or Cardas to sound at their best. I must add these cables ain't cheap. DT990 is not as open sounding (a tad) as HD600 but with a little mod, this deficiency is totally nullified. In their stock conditions, I say HD600 has fuller mids while DT990 is slightly laid back in this area. At the end of it all, the price difference of about S$100 has to be factored if one is making a choice between the 2. IMHO, both are good cans. The ultimatum is which offers the best value for money.
