duckling 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2004 (edited) Hi, I am thinking of getting the Marantz SA-17S1 SACD Player. This player feature the "Hi-speed Current Feedback headphone amplifier", so do I still need a Headphone Amp to drive a HD650? BTW, anyone using the Marantz SA-17S1 SACD Player, can share your view abt this Player? Many Thanks. Edited January 29, 2004 by duckling

lengcm 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2004 (edited) Anyone can assist? Thanks. The HD650 is quite difficult to drive, hence it would be preferable to get an amp. However I have not heard it with the player you intend to get. It would be better if you could bring your HD650 down for an audition. duckling 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2004 Have you already bought the HD650? Are you asking me...if yes the answer is no, I am starting from scratch...have ordered the Ultrasone HFI700 from Caveman and also looking at both Senn HD650 & Sony CD3K...I don't mind having all 3 of them. cmk 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2004 Well, duckling, once you get your hands on the HD650, bring it down to the shop and test it with the SA 17 and you will know for sure. However, generally most high impedence cans will require the use of a separate headamp to sound their best. lengcm has the HD650 and knows this for a fact.
