Considering making my own pimeta/ppa amp any case and/case designs in mind

i sort of have one... something like a (from left->right) pwr switch;LED; 1/4in (F): Volume knob.

or maybe pwr switch;LED;bass boost (if possible);LED; 1/4in (F): Volume knob.

I believe what you're saying is making a meta without the circuit board.

If so, do a search at www.headwize.com or www.head-fi.org (diy section)

There are not many variables for you to choose other than part quality, number of buffers you want per channel and type of op amp you wish to use.

The AD-8620 of-amp is a popular choice (because it sounds decent) and it's relatively cheap.

Alternatives are the BB OPA-627 or 637 (if you are buying the circuit board from Tangent you'll need the Brown Dog adapter to use the 627/637 as they are single not dula op-amps.

As for the buffer the original META 42 uses the EL2001 or EL2002 buffer (you can stack up to 4 buffers per channel)

You'll then need to pick a 50K ohm volume pot but I guess a 100K ohm will do as well.

You'll need some rail spliteres and caps as well.

tangent's website has more details on both PPA as well as the META He sells the Wima caps as well.

For a nice hammond case to complete the looks you can get them at farnell (online), for knobs as well as the Headphone Jack, Panasonic FC caps.

I not a tech person but that as far as it goes with parts to play with.
