andrew_manik 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2004 Ok guys, I recieved the card on friday evening through UPS. Installed it and connected the cables to my Creative Inspire 1300. The speakers have a headphone jack which i listen to music using my Grados. The first thing i notice is that there are cracking sounds from the card when playing a audio CD. ... Ok then, I unplug the card, connect the CD player's digital out to the card's digital out, set the jumpers and fired up the pc again. There is a big improvement although the sounds are still there. The question I have, is there any way to completely remove the sounds? The sounds are definately noise picked up from the pc as they increase to a unbearable level when I open a application. The EWX is sitting on the last pci slot in my pc, all the other cards (geforce 4, audigy2 zs) are sited on the top agp and pci slots. Would be a real shame if I have to live with the extra noise. adhoc 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2004 (edited) all components meant to be placed in a pc are designed to be able to withstand the electromagnetic noise present in a typical pc. i daresay the problem is that of an irq conflict or a driver issue. i had this same problem with a soundblaster live some time ago - try reducing hardware acceleration one notch. andrew_manik 0 Report post Posted March 20, 2004 The problem is definately not a irq conflict.. I have already checked the device manager. Recently i downloaded the latest drivers from the Terratec website, version 5.40 I think. As for hardware acceleration, I can set the acceleration level for the Audigy but not the EWX. (The option is greyed out)
