gavyn 0 Report post Posted July 13, 2005 Hi All, Which one better? I play more on Classical , country music, Jazz, new age and pop Please help to advise. Thank you. Frequency response improve which area? Ohms will affect what ?
Kube 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2005 ? Ohms is impedance...shows generally how much power it takes to drive the cans. The lower the better. Freq. response tells you what frequencies it can reach. Of course, the wider the better.
Absolute0 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2005 Actually lower impedance just means the set of cans is easier to drive, such as by portables without requiring an amp. But then there's the argument that they need more current. Anyway, cans with lower impedance are not necessarily better. For example the Senn HD6X0 are 300 ohms but they are definitely excellent cans. Frequency response actually isn't all that important in the selection of cans as it's merely a spec quoted by the manufacturer, and will not dictate how the cans will sound, at least not to a large extent. It's more important to audition the cans to see if the sound suits your preferences rather than depending on such specs. I guess those with more technical knowledge can provide greater insights.
