Kai 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2006 If there's one thing that never gets old around here, it's fly-by-night tech companies trying to pass themselves off as some of our old favorites. Usually you can spot faux iPods a mile away, but this one takes fakery to a new level, right down to the plastic case that it comes in and the "Designed by Apple in California" on the back. Harry, a reader of the French Mac site MacBidouille, apparently found this psuedo-iPod nano in Thailand -- we're sure that Cupertino's cease-and-desist letters have already been drafted and are on their way across the Pacific as we speak. Taken from Engadget.com and http://www.macbidouille.com/news/2006-12-01/#13686 So, there is really fake Ipod name Ipod, but it still look fake anyway. Lol... Guest joi-ful Report post Posted December 5, 2006 Nice job on the iPod back. But looks pretty much the same as any other iPod imitations on the market
sHaRkKaE 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2006 looks very similiar to the 2gen nano..just that the click wheel somewhat gives it away..
tassardar_ 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2006 Looks too fake. From the screen to the finish. The only thing that looks similar is the text lol
Slivester 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2006 Font used were wrong. Thats too apparent. Apple is too picky when it comes to typography, so thats a guaranteed give away.
bakavic 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2006 The on/off switch gives it away It should be a hold switch. But casing-wise, it is a very good job. No spelling errors on the back area! Actually, all these fakes are just a variety of the "mp4" players that are selling well in the low-end market. All these mp4 players are using a variation of the same firmware, so they have some basic hardware functions which are fixed, like the on/off switch. There is a site dedicated to reverse-engineering these players (both mp3/mp4 players) and possibly developing an alternative firmware for them, ala rockbox - http://www.s1mp3.org/ . This is because the original firmware sucks. (Must stop music to change song, buggy ogg support, lousy file navigation, etc)
